A dentist made mouthguard is better then anything generic you will buy. And yes, they are much thinner as well.
I think I put this in your training log cpcompany a bit ago, but will repost this thought here for anyone reading. IF one buys a shock doctor, make sure not to buy the more expensive one, that I believe is colored. It has hard plastic that runs all the way down towards the back of it and it will cut into your cheek and open you up if you get hit.
They have a cheaper one with a lot less of this plastic, is black in color and much better suited for boxing.

Oh for sure, check it out. But I have a dentist one now, and it felt paper thin when I first put it in. Every one I've seen is a lot thinner also. But yea...after using a generic one, it does feel weird at first. Just try after a few weeks to put the shock doc back in...it will feel like you are sticking a shoe in there.
