The barrera-Morales trilogy

I find that both of these are higher in my estimation than Gatti v Ward because of the significance of the fights.

I much prefer Morales-Barrera and Vazquez-Marquez. The skill level of both fighters is much higher in those fights than the Gatti-Ward trilogy.

Same here . I dont think Barrera - Morales will ever be equalled . Atleast not in my lifetime.

The 1st fight was the best . I think they got the wrong winner but a classic non the less . 2nd fight was more tactical, I think Marco looked at teh Hamed fight and realised he could win big fights without taking punches and he did . But in the 3rd fight he got that warrior mentality back and im glad he did . Great trilogy!

I saw it for the first time a little while back, and after watching it I couldn't understand why it doesn't get more hype/respect as possibly the best fight ever. People go on and on about Castillo-Corrales, Gatti-Ward, and the Vazquez-Marquez fights, and justifiably so, but Barrera-Morales I doesn't seem to get the same level of respect and I think it was the best out of all those fights. Maybe it's because it's a bit older and it's been talked about to death before I became a boxing fan, I don't know...

Morales-Barrera is the best trilogy of this decade. One thing I liked is that they took time off between the fights, so there were always new themes for each fight, unlike other trilogies where they just fight 3 times in a row in a short amount of time.

I thought Morales won the first two fights, with Barrera clearly winning the 3rd.

I still rank their first fight as the Fight of the Decade, above Castillo-Corrales I.

This matchup was a classic case of two guys who were already Hall of Famers in their own right, but when they got put in the same ring, they forced each other to go to even higher levels.

The thing for me that makes barrera vs morales the greatest trilogy in my life is the fact you have to all time greats going to hell and back for 3 full 12 round fights.

isreal and rafa's first 2 fights ended mid way...

If you want to talk about action packed per rounds fought, then its no question, the fight with rafa and isreal had more; But barrera and morales had everything in it - to me the greater trilody, possibly the greatest that has ever taken place.

Funniest thing of the whole saga was while awaiting the decision for the 3rd fights judges, after beating the crap out of eachother for 36 rounds barrera went up to the morales corner and erik appeared to slap marco which caused pandomonium. You would honestly think both men would of had enough of eachother but there they were both ready to go at it again

Never got to see the 1st fight live but could only imagine what must of been going through peoples heads seeing 2 men beat the holy hell out of eachother and both looking like they could drop at any time.

I watch the fight again and again and often wonder how exactly it went 12 rounds and whether either guy realised after the fight the history they had just created in victory and defeat.

Yeah its one of my favourite fights to watch but I was thinking of more classics in terms of action . The Nas fight was too one sided .

It didn't get better than these. I had Morales winning 1 & 2. Barerra in the 3rd. Does anyone else think Morales should of scored a knockdown in the 2nd fight? I forget the round

I thought Barrera won the first, Morales the second, and Barrera the third. They were all close but I've seen them all a fair amount and I've never changed my mind about the winner of each fight.

For me the Vasquez/ Marquez trilogy is better than the Barrera/ Morales trilogy. The second Barrera/ Morales fight is the one that doesn't stand up against the others.

In saying that Barrera/ Morales 1 is my favorite of all 6 fights

I had it Barrera, Morales, Barrera. I was at the first fight and it's still the last fight I've been to live. Watching at the time I thought it was the best fight I'd ever seen and having watched it on TV since I have to agree with myself.

I had it MAB, Morales, MAB. In the first fight MAB just took it to Morales and out fought him. The second Morales outboxed MAB for the first 6 before MAB dragged him into a slugfest. The third I felt MAB was in control most of the fight.

I dont think you can top this trilogy. Marq/Vasquez is good but to me it just doesnt measure up to MAB/Morales.

Barrera deserved to win the first fight. He made it.

It seems crazy now to think Barrera was written off as semi-finished at the time.. and was a ridiculous underdog with the bookies.

And the worse thing is - they each got around $100,000 for that fight
