I love this idea of joe c vs kelly p i think it would be an awesome joes foot work and hand speed and kelly pavliks absolute relentles attack i wouldnt like to predict the outcome because as it's been posted it's so close but if i was placing a bet i'd have joe 12 round decision.

i'm still worried about joes vunrebility to the right hand and everyone knows what pavliks right hand can do but saying that i dont know whether pavliks one main attack the straight left right hand will work out with joes movement and ability to adapt and turn a fight on its head. who knows would love to see fight happen.

Kelly Pavlik "not ready" to fight Joe Calzaghe
    By David Anderson 10/06/2008

Frank Warren has cooled talk of a showdown between Joe Calzaghe and Kelly Pavlik, claiming the middleweight king must prove himself first.

Despite being at ringside to see Pavlik destroy his man Gary Lockett inside three rounds in Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall on Saturday, Warren is not convinced the American is in the same class as Calzaghe.

Warren has been speaking to Pavlik's promoter Bob Arum about a possible £10million showdown at super - middleweight between the undefeated champions, but claims talk of an October 18 fight in America is premature.

Roy Jones Junior says he's prepared to fight Calzaghe in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium at light-heavyweight in what could be his last fight and Warren claims the Welshman will decide his next opponent.

"It's Joe's decision, first of all," said Warren. "There are a couple of good opponents out there for Joe, but at the end of the day, Joe is the man - not Jones or Pavlik.

"A fight with Pavlik would have to be made at supermiddleweight.

But it remains to be seen how good Pavlik can be. I want to see what happenswhensomeone puts pressure on him."

Calzaghe has said he would prefer to fight Jones.

He feels beating the American could be the perfect ending to his glittering career.
Calzaghe would pefer to fight another has been on a tail slide of their career. Pavlik is the most dangerous fight he could possibly take. Calzaghes people are scared and ducking him like cowards.
lol I guessed this is what would happen. As much as I would love to see this fight, I also cannot blame the Calzaghe camp for going with the $$ at this stage of his career.

BUT, to use the excuse that it is because Pavlik isn't ready for Joe is weak...very weak...

I can see why he'd take the Jones fight.. It's a little dodgy having both wins against "Hopkins" and "Jones" on your resume, but they are both at the end of their careers... However Joe isn't that young these days either, and there is nothing wrong with him fighting Jones.. It should be a great fight, and 2 boxers that don't have particularly straight forward fighting styles... I think Jones could knock Calzaghe out if he really let his hands go and didn't have any fear of Calzaghe's punches..

If Joe was planning on hanging around for another 2 or 3 years, and maybe taking another 4 or so fights before his retirement, I could also understand how he said "Pavlik isn't ready for him yet"... Maybe another 2 defences for Kelly, then a huge fight with Calzaghe to really end of Joe's career,,, that would be great as well.. But by the sounds of recent interviews with Joe etc, it doesn't sound like he wants to go on for another 3 years, or take that many more fights...
I think deep down though he loves the big fights, and will probably get drawn into fighting at least another 3 big name US fighters before he hangs the gloves up for good...

    Good post

Kelly is froma different era . Jones, Hopkins and Joe are from another . Joe doesnt need these young fighters at his age . Thats not to say I dont think he can beat Pavlik cuz I do . His speed, boxing skill and experience just give him the edge but its a massivley dangerous fight and one that he doesnt need . Id like to see Kessler and Pavlik get it on personally . If Pav wants an old boy with a name he should go for Winky Wright
