You can work abs 6 days a week, can't remember why, but it has worked for me. Like Young has said, create a routine which fulfills your goals and rotates the muscles you are using every day.

I work different muscles on different days, but when it comes to doing sittups/crunches, and punching on the heavybag, I don't see why I shouldn't do it every day.![]()

If you're a boxer, the bag should be included daily
(although Scrap will surely prove me wrong)
But seriously, if you're a boxer you punch everyday.
As for the abs. 3 times a week.

Yea I agree with the punching every day. Often if I don't feel like skipping before say a run, I will do pad work as a warm up and down. Or say if I am working on a new combo, introduction something new...I will use the pads a lot for a bit until I feel comfortable using it in sparring.
