Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
the Barrera meeting took me by surprise on the street outside MGM and I didn't really say much to him as others started to crowd waiting for photos.
I asked him if he thought Ricky would win and he kind of grinned and nodded - does he speak English ??
I also told him that I would whoop him inside a round if i ever put the gloves on . His silence, puzzled expression and hurrry to get away from me spoke volumes - he was shitting himself and knew he was not worthy of being in the presence of a true fighting machine.

Matthew Saad Muhammed. Several years ago while at the IBHOF induction I was in one of the tents looking at some stuff and saw Saad. Three little kids walked up to him and asked him for his autograph and he just blew them off saying he didn't have time. Then he stayed for awhile and continued looking around before he left. I know some people may say it was his right to refuse to sign, but these athletes have to remember they would be nothing if it wasn't for the fans. Moral: Don't sh*t where you eat. On the flip side Carmen Basilio, Gerry Cooney and Emile Griffith are some of the best guys you'll ever meet.
I actually grew up knowing that guy.
He's one of the nicest guys I've ever known actually, I was at his fight against Michael green. And even though he lost he still signed by book
it said "To my friend" on it and then he signed his nameVery classy and nice guy. Always loved to see him, and that was the first fight i was ever taken to

Never met any boxers. Met some MMA fighters. Heath Herring and Anderson Silva were the nicest by far. Jorge Rivera as well. Tim Sylvia was a fvckin prick though.
I went to UFC Event in Vegas and sat right next to Tito Ortiz and Bill Goldberg all night. (This was when UFC wasn't as big and I got one ticket, so I got great seats) Both of these guys talked to EVERYONE and signed everything that fans put in front of them. I couldn't believe it. They were cool. Took pictures with everyone. I'm just not the type to talk it up at a place like that, but they were cool. I realized then what a pain in the ass being famous would be. You have to be "on" 24/7 and if they got pissed, people would call them jerks. It takes a special type to be nice to everyone and understand it from the fan's point of view. Also, just a note - that Ortiz is one big sunnuvabitch!! I didn't realize he was that big. His neck and head are ginormous (yes that's a word now - ask Merriam-Webster)
