Look Lockett was the test for the Calzaghe/Pavlik potential fight, as they are in the same stable. Enzo saw what happened to Lockett and right then and there was no way Joe was going to fight him.

Enzo's knows how Joe fairs against Lockett, they are in the same camp for goodness sakes. It was the measuring stick and Enzo saw what he did...and there will be no Pavlik fight. Period.

The Calzaghe camp didn't need to comment on Pavlik like that, stupid, a little disrespectful and leaves yourself open to be called out.

Lockett never had a hope against Pavlik, he was never even close to world class, I don't think that fight had much of a bearing on Calzaghe's decision.

A pavlik fight at this time is a huge risk for Joe, the Calzaghe of a couple years ago would win a comfortable decision IMO, but the lethargic version against Hopkins would be in for a real tough fight, it would be a real risk to his legacy considering if he were to win Pavlik's stock would be downgraded retrospectively.

I would personally hold a W over Kelly as huge for Joe, but many fans are already pointing out deficiencies in Pavlik's game (slow footed, 1 dimensional, and unproven above middle). I think Pavlik's a brilliant fighter, and while there is some truth about his slow feet, his other attributes (Power, strength, reach, awsome jab, determination) more than make up for it. I believe a lot of fans are weary of jumping on a bandwagon nowadays in case they look stupid like they did with Lacy.
