All things considered...Two once great fighters in a very bad fight. Its like passing an auto accident,You are just drawn to look once.Lets hope this is a one time thing for both...please!

I watched a doco last night on the build up to the fight and some early Fenech and Nelson fights were shown, Fenech was like a machine in the ring, his demoltion of Victor Callejas was awesome and Nelson of course was sheer brilliance in the ring. The first Fenech V Nelson fight was a classic in every sense of the word, i just hope these two greats of the fight game come through it all unscathed.

Agreed on that one.Fenech was one that I caught "In re-plays" over here in the States.I like any one with funtional eyesight and an open mind had Fenech pulling away in the 1st Nelson fight. The lasting unrealistic vision I have of Fenech is him being layed out flat by Light hitting slippery Calvin Grove when he was well on the down side.Grove gave both of them tough fights but I dont think he could have touched Fenech at Jeff's best..no way!Hope they make some good money Tuesday and all ends well for both.
I did manage to download a few Fenech fights even a rare one where he first won a world title, his style was as exciting as any boxer who ever laced em up, he did deserve the decision in the 1st fight against Nelson no question, but Nelson was suffering from an illness at the time wasn't he ?? whatever the case Nelson proved the doubters wrong in the rematch and amazingly it was named Ring Magazine Upset Of The Year ?? did people at the time really give Nelson no chance in the rematch ?? was it really that much of a major upset ?? As i said in the other thread im not sure which fight with Nelson ruined Fenech the 1st or the 2nd, but it doesn't really matter what fight it was because Fenech never produced any great performance's after that and his career was basically over.

I think he underestimated Nelson in the 2nd fight and he did not handle the Drawn decision in the first fight very well. One flaw with Fenech was his temperament, he never recovered from the KO and his hands were a mess as well. He had a long lay off before the Grove fight and although winning this fight he got nailed and that was the end of his career. Holiday then made a mess of him a couple of years later.
