I think the most important thing to Joe is the '0' now

Only Marciano and Mayweather () have achived that when retiring (am referring to true world class fighters here)

Who wouldn't want to go down in history and be mentioned alongside Marciano ?

I have said it before in another post, Jones = more money less risk

Pavlik is young, strong and hungry and won't pay as much and is very very risky !

Joe is having ONE more fight - not one of you in Joe's position would opt for Pavlik and you know it.

Another way of looking at it,a 43 year old Hopkins had Joe down , and if he hadnt run out of gas would have gotten more then a split decision loss.
Jones is the safer money fight then Pavlik. Jones is still bankable, and is alot safer then Pavlik at this point.
I dont respect the fact that Joe's been saying for years he no longer had any intrest in fighting Jones, and now he's fighting him, but I understand the logic.

I'm not a particularly big Calzaghe fan but even I think it's harsh, that despite beating Kessler, Lacy and Hopkins people still feel he's got something to prove in order to 'cement his legacy'

Yes, some of the fights in the interim weren't exactly top drawer but if a Mid 30s Joe can beat Lacy and Kessler then surely a prime Joe would of done the same?

Hopkins is a different matter, but I'm prepared to give Joe the benefit of the doubt. Mainly because I don't think Hopkins would of fought any different and simply because of the condition Hopkins was in.

As a final fight, the RJJ has much more of a ring (and indeed poetry) to it.

Joes nothing left to prove..and I've always said, if you're not happy with it, don't buy the PPV/Tickets. Easy.

people are naturally enquisitive as to whether calzaghe-pavlik would ever be a possibility.

Id imagine team calzaghe have talked it over at length and came to the conclusion that even meeting kelly half way in terms of the weight limit just isnt feasible for a guy who is now 36 going on 37.

Calzaghe earns more dough for fighting RJJ, gets to fight it at his weight limit against a far more established fighter....and if we are all being honest with ourselves here against a 38/39 year old RJJ it probably means a much easier nights work for calzaghe.

Anyone that criticises joe/enzo for taking this over pavlik is just plain ignorant.

Totally agree. I think Pavlik Abraham needs to happen after Abraham Marquez is done.

Calzaghe needs to fight Jones.

It's a good match up...no matter what anyone says...Jones aint the done deal that I wanted him to be. I was mortified of seeing him back in the ring due to the fact that the losses he suffered were just so devastating & shocking & brutal that I never wanted to see him take another hit like that...but he's surprised me & he's looked pretty sharpish since his last bout with Tarver.

Jones is still a factor & he's worked his way back into the ratings.

That being said...past, present, & future...Jones is a HOF'er & that's that.

Anyone that has seen Roys 3 comeback fights knows he has little to zero chance. A Pavlik fight at 168 was already agreed by Wareen and Arum but Joe wants the money.

Its poor Calzaghe fans that are left with him fighting Roy Jones mk 08 in his final bout it leaves a real bitter taste.

Lets hope Joe sees sence and after walking through this shell fights Pavlik in the last hurragh.

First Enzo it is not a harder fight and Jones hasnt been or beaten the best in nearly 6yrs.

As for what Joe said im really upset by it all the time and money i wasted during his WBO days for it to end with Jones.
