    NEWS FLASH
    Calzaghe vacates WBC belt!
The WBC has ordered Carl Froch and Jermain Taylor to fight for the the vacant WBC super middleweight title formerly held by Joe Calzaghe. The clock has started on a private negotiating period is between Froch’s promoter Mick Hennessy and Taylor’s promoter Lou DiBella. If there is no agreement then a purse bid is scheduled for July 25 at the WBC Executive Offices in Mexico City. “I’m delighted to get the title fight and just hope Taylor shows a real fighting heart and goes through with this fight,” said Froch. “I’ve heard he was talking about fighting Jeff Lacy next but that fight is a mismatch in my opinion. I would knock Lacy out in a round or two and it is an easy fight for Taylor, so I just hope Jermain doesn’t squirm out of this situation with me and I think the broadcasters shouldn’t allow him to either. I heard Lou DiBella has said ‘who the f--- is Carl Froch to American television,' but he will know who the f--- the ‘Cobra’ is when his fighter is laying horizontal in front of him. Then I will ask him what does he know about boxing?

Hes up for this Carl. He really is going to step up for this one and you will see him at his best. My boy is going to knock him out.

Lou di Bella sounds dismissive of Froch but he's always been arrogant ( old fat men shouldnt have their ears pierced )

Froch just has to tighten up his defence abit for this fight cuz Taylor is good when he lets his hands go. Taylor doesnt seem as quick at SM and im sure Carl has a great chance. Infact Id make him a slight favourite .

How can Froch tighten up his defense a bit ?? his whole style is based on having his hands at his waist and just using his reflexes, but the sad thing for him he ain't no Roy Jones Jr and that low hands style will get him in big trouble against Taylor.

I think Froch defense has been abit lacks in the past as he hasn't feared the opposition in the past but will know that Taylor is genuine World Class and realise he needs to tighten up the defense.

If this fight happens its a great match-up and I certainly can't see Froch getting Ko'd as Taylor is not a big hitter and Froch seems to possess an excellent chin.

May major concern is whether he will be busy enough if he is he can dominate the fight.

Even if he doesnt improve on his defence, Taylor looked awful vs smaller men like Ouma and Spinks. Froch I think will cause him alot of pain .

People are talking about Froch improving his defence?? That's a laugh. Taylor is way to good to lose to this guy imo, it would be a huge upset if it happened. I mean sure you have to give Froch a punchers chance and perhaps Taylor's head isn't really in this fight? But I don't see any reason that would be the case after his showing in the Pavlik rematch. Taylor does everything better than Froch, who has an awful fighting style to succeed at the world class level. How is leaving your hands at your hips winging telegraphed uppercuts going to work against a top fighter? I just can't see it. "The Cobra" is no Bernard Hopkins, WRight or Kelly Pavlik, Taylor does everything better than Froch anyways, and given Froch's style I suspect he'll be getting KO'ed. He'll need one hell of a chin just to survive and make it competitive.

you'll see he will be up there. He will make this one hell of a fight for Taylor. Its alrite you all saying his defence will be exposed, but when has it ever been a problem? ive never seen him being truely hurt before or nearly touching the mat. Its his presence and his range that is a great form of defence for Froch. His footwork is underrated too, he knows when hes in touble he can get out of there quick. The range will be a lot harder for Taylor than he expects. If he gets problems off two small lightmiddleweights, I am expecting many problems from a natural 168 fighter who is greatly up for the fight!

The reason he hasn't been in much trouble so far because he has fought absolutely no one remotely world level.

I can't belive people are picking on the Light Middle weight fighters as evidence he'd struggle against a bigger guy like Froch, wtf, stylistically the fights will be completely different. It's like saying that Taylor struggles with southpaws with a tight guard, so logically he'll struggle more with an orthodox fighter with his hands protecting his groin

Anyway, not knocking Froch, if this fight comes off we will finally know exactly where he's at. IMO Froch's only chance is a knockout, he simply won't outbox Taylor.

Like everyone else said he hasnt fought anyone who is a threat yet so who was gonna hurt him? Tatesyvon was comin off a loss against a 3-0 guy and Froch's people siad he was world class!

It hasn't ever been a problem. Which hurts Froch's chances even moreso because he'll have no idea how to deal with it when he gets in with Taylor and it's a HUGE one. Your basically saying the less experienced fighter isn't at a disadvantage because noone's ever hurt him before, or made him change his game plan. Well duh, that's the point. Taylor has been in with a magnitude of world class talent, and many different styles. He's been hit hard, and lost rounds. He's had to adjust and learn in the ring in basically every big fight he's been in. Froch has never met a single opponent he couldn't just plow over with looping telegraphed shots. Never had to even think about using any real ring craft. I see giving him a punchers chance against Taylor, but nothing more. It's obvious Taylor is the better fighter.

Based on what Brian Magee or Robin (79yo) Reid.

Not knocking your comments but who the hell has Froch fought that suggests he beats Taylor? hid fault or not but his resume is dreadful if Carl fought Spinks or Ouma that would be a step up.

Let alone Hopkins and Pavlik, Froch has yet to face anyone B class Bika is a level above the cans he fought.

Not saying Froch will lose but he is stepping D class to A class without having a B class test (someone ranked coming to win).

Whilst I agree that Froch has a great chance of winning how can you say Taylor has lost his speed at supermiddle when he hasn't even fought there yet?
