its all about prespective of the numbers... the longer it goes on the more stable it will become and that is if PP is in the thousands or hundreds of thousands

at the start i had people wanting to be able to rep posters at will... just imagine how high the PP would be if i'd have given in to that.

but if the system means you have to be in it to win it isnt that better for the forum keeping people here than glorifiying people who cant be bothered to come here

the main job of this forum is for boxing fans to come here and discuss thier fav sport... it aint and never was a shrine to members.... if it was Brad4dboxer would still be one of the most hailed members ever to grace the boards IMO

I don't see the clans as an abuse of it all though. If anything we are just using the system and making it more worthwhile. Besides no matter how much rep someone accumulates as soon as they stop the leading other members will have caught him in a week and he'll be outisded the top 30 in a month.

a agree mate it is all new for me also... so i'm just seeing what happens with the systems.

one thing is noticable the bigger the PP you get your less likely to rep someone out of your clan for nowt... only posts you agree with or found really helpful.

Look at Kid Thunder for example. Only been here a couple weeks and less than 150 posts and he's already got over 22,000 rep.

I've also made him Aragorn, son of Arathorn and heir to the throne of Gondor. I'm enjoying my new found power to bestow gifts upon those who please me

Is there a way to check the stats here like on the old forum... Also liked the feature that told you how long you been logged in as a member... at one point I coulda been locked in my almost 200 days straight posting here

LOL well, I started this post purely as a joke obviously and it seems to have gone into debate, which I suppose can be good.

The thing which in a sense is good about the current system is, IMO, seeing that it all began at zero and when isn't being overly manipulated, a person who consistantly makes decent posts, and spends a lot of time here contributing will be rewarded with those efforts, if one considers them some form of merit.

But for the love of all things clicky and reppy, meh...as a freshly back self-banned messageboardaholic...either system isn't worth the spit you'll find on a sidewalk if you push yourself away from the keyboard and go for a nice stroll to smell the flowers, or the worry or concern once you get there. Fact.

As far as seniority goes, I look at a persons date of when they got here, and number of posts. And from that perspective I can tell you in many cases it means a person has good boxing knowledge and much to contribute, someone to learn from. i've learned plenty already and appreciate it. But in others with equal time I have seen what I believe to be little more then talking out their ass. Just diligently. You get 2 people been at the job years, doesn't automatically equal both good employees. So goes the debate.

I kinda liked the Old Guard idea, I must say..as a way for people to say..."I been here and weathered the storms and adversities of this message board. Been here 2 years, am Old Guard" kinda logic...but I don't much like divisions.

It causes people to join sides and I believe leaves brand new members swinging in the balance. I'm not talking bout myself, cuz I got my own fan club, membership base of 1! And I'm okay with that.

But I do wonder about those quiet new ones. Where do they fit?

We have a started a weekly self expression course now at Clan Baggins where we combine singing, drama and dance with an open discussion club where we all sit in a circle and tell each other our troubles. We then offfer support and comfort, and obviously a nice cup of tea and a biscuit or two!
