Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?

Put it this way, Calzaghe has never comer close to losing in the longest championship reign in boxing

Joe has also beaten 2 undefeated reigning champs

Jones has only defeated 1 undefeted reigning champ in Toney

Dude since when does someone being undefeated matter?

Do you honestly rank Lacy(one of the two undefeated) in the same league as Hopkins or toney?

Lets not forget Reggie Johnson had James Toney very hurt and against people like Tarver and such he came close to defeating them at his old age.

Jones on the other hand dominated him like no one has.


Roy Jones' resume is better then Joe Calzaghe's.

Why would you ignore that Calzaghe beat a weight drained Chris Eubank with barely enough time to prepare for him but are so quick to point out that The body snatcher was an older age, and like ICB said he went on to give James Toney a tough fight and still had greatness in him.

You mean like Bryant Brannon tried to? By throwing 100 punches against Jones, when only a few of them landed and Roy punching him between the gloves.

I think people forget that Rou was a very very good counter puncher especially when people tried to pressure him he would always punch between the guard with his combination punching.

Calzaghe who showed against Hopkins he can be countered in between his flurries when Hopkins only threw one straight right hand which knocked Calzaghe off balance, how do you think Roy's right hand especially at 168 would have done to Joe. And if Roy had Joe down like Hopkins did(on the first right hand Hopkins threw) then Roy would have finished him.


Calzaghe isn't in the same league as Roy Jones. And Prime for Prime Jones would destroy Joe.

Joe is a good fighter, but Roy is in another class alltogether. How can someone who struggles against someone Roy beat 10+ years ago expected to beat Roy?

I watched the David Telesco fight with my dad, and Roy won that fight easily with a fractured wrist and dominated him and afterwards the HBO crew gave him a birthday cake.

I just laugh at how biased he is its just hilarious and he wasn't even dropped by Telesco what the hell are you on about Ross ?? atleast to my knowledge he wasn't last time i watched the fight but it has been a few years since i've seen it. But i only remember Jones being dropped by Del Valle in his prime and that was a flash knockdown.

Yeh I agree with that. As I said earlier in the thread, I definitely would see RJJ winning, but it wouldn't be easy. JCC is a helluva lot beter than Di Valle or Griffin

Because later in the fight Del Valle also slipped on the same wet spot Jones did when he went down. And Griffin was awkward so he gave Jones some problems, but he still wiped out Griffin in the rematch so that pretty much erases the first fight.

Well lets remember BIG H Del Valle was RJJ's sparring partner for many years so he probably picked up on some weaknesses sparring many rounds with RJJ. I know when i sparr with the same person a few times i start picking up on pattens the way feint, the way they plant there feet, knowing what to expect next, knowing there defense flaws, knowing the punches they telegraph with allowing me capitalize with a counter shot etc. I don't really think Griffin was troubling RJJ to the extent of RJJ on the verge of losing yes RJJ was losing but thats because Griffin was short and could get under the punches, and was awkward as hell. Remember RJJ did figure out Griffin by the 7th round when he knocked him down and he come on strong in the later rounds, i think the 2nd fight erases the 1st fight simply because once RJJ found the pattern on how to beat Griffin, he showed Griffin was no match for him.

I think Jones would win but Joe has a bad style for him and would make Roy Jones work every second.

Just a shame it didnt happen 5yrs ago.
