I don't think it's right in a way; he can't hear when the ref says anything to him. Other guy might break when the ref tells him and he'll hit the dude cause' he didn't hear the call.

Deaf fighters supposedly have an advantage as they don't lose their equilirium This is what I've heard before anyways.
