Ive never seen Hatton as a granite chinned fighter (he's admitted after fights being hurt) and never china chinned.

It's pretty clear he doesn't handle punches so well anymore.. there's plenty of reasons for that though, mainly that he gets hit MORE than he used too

I don't know about his chin. I certainly don't remember him being hurt against Tackie but I was fairly intoxicated the night of that fight I could have let it slip my memory.

Anyways, I think it's more of a deal where he has trouble with shots he doesn't see. Against Tszyu he had to walk through absolute hell to get to the inside. Just rewatched the fight and was amazed at how he could walk through those shots like that I can't imagine what he must have felt like when the adrenaline wore off and he was at his house laying in bed. Without that crowd there is no way in hell he wins that belt imo. That's why I love that picture so much of him and Tszyu two weeks later.

I think Hatton's big problem is he leaves his feet to much and just doesn't see punches. Mayweather he didn't see the punch, because it wasn't a big shot if he had landed it straight away but Hatton wasn't expecting it. Same deal with Luzcano he got hurt with another one of those check hooks and a punch underneath when Hatton was bent over. Neither he saw.

Collazo wasn't a big puncher but a southpaw, Hatton was tired and was just about to throw a left to the body when he got tagged with a left cross.

Obviously the first thing that came to mind was Pacquiao and how Hatton would handle his power. Unless of course you were wondering about Malignaggi's power Don't think it would be all that much of an issue. Obviously he's been in the ring with bigger punchers then Pacquiao in Tszyu and Urango who had him hurt in the 6th I think but Urango hits hard period. Pacquiao's power doesn't come from his hooks at all, he threw some versus Diaz from all sorts of angles but didn't really hurt him with any and a lot of them landed open handed like slaps. The problem would be seeing the left hands but I would really be surprised if he got KO'd.

Overall Hatton being on the slide has been greatly exaggerated. He's certainly not the best Hatton there ever was but he's not shot nor is he a shell or even half the fighter he once was. He did seem a bit desperate in the Luzcano bout and his legs weren't all there but when your legs go so does your footspeed and Hatton still looked to me like he had plenty of footspeed. Those two things go hand and hand. Lost a step for sure but that's to be expected, I think he's held up fairly well considering how active he has always been and how long he has been around and pretty much on top of his game off and on.

Ironically the hardest puncher he has actually ever been in with was urango who apart from that one round seemed to give hatton hardly any problems at all.

If you fight with that kind of style youve got to expect that the better fighters out there are going to tag you every so often.

He beat tszyu because he was prepared to walk through whatever kostya would throw but almost lost to collazo because he genuinely expected that he wasnt gonna be in a war that it eventually came down to.

Any decent move and punch type boxer is gonna catch hatton because of the way he fights. Thats still not to say though that his chin is any weaker than it ever has been.

just the level of competition has gone up
    one dangerous horrible bloke
