I was watching the rebroadcast of the Pacquiao vs Diaz fight. At the end of the program, Emmanuel Stewart explained his top 5 pound for pound fighters. If anyone is interested in Stewart's mind, this is who he thought:

1) Manny Pacquiao
2) Miguel Cotto
3) Joe Calzaghe
4) Juan Manuel Marquez
5) Kelly Pavlik

I don't know how anybody could have Cotto above Calzaghe...... but that's the deal with p4p lists. They truly are just opinions.

There could be a case to have that. Cotto has beaten Judah and Shane, demolished Gomez, and is set to fight Margarito. That's a pretty good push to climbing the pound-for-pound rankings. I'm pretty sure this might be argued but I will defend it some other time cause I'm getting ready to celebrate the 4th of July and get completely sloshed!

I'm always baffled as to how Hopkins can be in the top ten when he has lost 3 of his last 6.

Sure they were close fights, but he lost.

Where would he be if in them 3 fights he was clearly ahead before being caught by a lucky punch in the 12th....and being ko'd?

Might sound like a ridiculous argument, but surely being clearly ahead against Taylor and Calzaghe would say more about his ability, then losing SD's to them?

Suppose it's all about opinions and people will argue that Hopkins had a case for winning those fights.

Maybe the question should be 'why was he in people's top 3 after losing twice to Taylor?'

I left Hopkins off my list. Why did I do such a thing, you ask? I feel that Hopkins is long past retirement and before too long actually will be retired. Based on this I excluded him.

Afterall, Mayweather is "retired" and not ranked. Dispite our collective notion that he will certainly be back in the ring we dimissed him.

Is there a difference between Mayweather pretending to be retired and Hopkins pretending not to be? I don't think so. If we remove one we can remove the other.

Because the JT decisions were controversial. Many believe he also beat Joe Calzaghe, an undefeated undisputed world champion who was ranked top 5 P4P before he fought Hopkins (Now he is top 3). He was the underdog against Tarver and yet schooled him. He also beat another legend in Winky Wright who previousley hadn't lost for 7 years. He is fully deserivng of P4P status without doubt.
