Not really looking foward to this mismatch, Jones will be so tired after 6rds he will barely be able to stand let alone fight back.
Jones will take a whooping until he gets stopped probably against the ropes getting nailed with combo after combo.
Jones is 5 times the star of Hopkins, has a lot more fans especially in New York. Calzaghe fought in his backyard his whole career, MSG is a good venue for this. That way they each would probably bring half the fans each.
I have this frightening image of Roy voluntarily laying on the ropes letting Calzaghe bitch slap him to victoryAt this point I just want to see Calzaghe lose but I'm not sure Roy is going to do it, not confident at all. Will be rooting hard for him though.

Would love to see RJJ beat the snot out of Calzaghe for his "I'm holier then thou Kelly Pavlik so I won't fight you" B.S. talk ...
But logic and reason says Joe will win this. Either way I think it is a good fight for them both for the $$ aspect, and the right venue.
Roy Jones will have no legs come the 6th round.
I think this one is gonna get messy Calzaghe UD
"It wasn't the night of the jab"
I don't like this fight - especially with them all lovey-dovey joint promoting it.
It's just two old boys with a plan to make EASY SAFE money.

better late than never i say
If its the jones that fought trinidad a few months back then i really expect nothing more than a comfortable JC points victory.
But if..........IF RJJ can role back the clocks and produce one last vintage performance we could just have us a decent fight on our hands.
one dangerous horrible bloke
The only scenario that would make it semi-shocking is if Roy sparked Calzaghe out.
But that wont happen. They are too freindly (even if they pretend not in the bulid up).
It will be like all old-timer fights. A totally predictable 12 round SAFETY first fest.
Calzaghe won't get any credit for the win.
to be honest i am a little disappointed in him, he would of got much more credit in beating Pavlik.
Thats a fight id rather him take but you know if Calzaghe won his haters will still say so what you beat a Middleweight. i have come to realise this after Lacy was called a "bum" Kessler "euro hype" then Joe did beat anyone "P4P" now its didnt beat anyone prime "P4P"
And Joe has looked bad in one fight and didnt show a lot of power now he is "past it" and "Feather fisted" forgetting the beating he put on the iron chinned Lacy or the body work that nearly had Kessler down.

If Roy doesn't wait to get started like he did against Tito, perhaps he can claim most of the first 8 rounds and get a sloppy SD, but I also see him getting worn out against a tireless Joe. I believe it's possible for Roy to win, but I just see Calzaghe doing it again.
Oops
....what happens if Roy legitimately beats Calzaghe....and even KO's Joe.
As unlikely as that may be you still have to consider the possibilities. If Joe KO's RJJ then no big surprise but if the Joe gets KO'd it would be a shocker
It's going to be a tough nights work for Joe since he simply doesn't have the power to keep Roy honest. Joe will win IMO but it'll be a sloppy decision victory, the margin depends on how much Roy has left in his legs.
not a great fight for joe for me as there is not a great deal to gain from this, and roy seems re focused and hungry again, if roy gets in his rythym early and doesnt let joe dictate the pace of the fight, could be a long night for joe, i just hope i can afford to be there to see it happen![]()
