Default Ali holds three records that will never be beat that most did not know

Ali beat 7 future HOF fighters, he was also in FOTY 3x.

    AND.

He is the only Heavyweight to win the liniar Heavyweight championship 3x, those contenders Holyfield and Lewis won token paper versions, Ali won the legit ring liniar belt 3x.

    Just a thought.

Holyfield comes the closest. He was 2x WORLD CHAMPION and his third reign is arguable a legitimate, as he unified two alphabet titles(beating Tyson and Moorer) but he failed to gain the linear championship as he lost to Lennox Lewis (who beat Briggs who beat Foreman who beat Moorer who beat Holyfield)

Come to think of it, it is no where near as accomplished as Ali's list but Holyfield holds victories over Bowe, Tyson, Foreman, Holmes, Mercer, Moorer, Rachman, Douglas and a draw against Lewis. Not to shabby.

    Yes, Gatti had 4.

    Ruelas
    Robinson I
    Ward I
    Ward III

I believe Barrera was only in 2 FOTY, for Morales I and III.

The only one that is a record is the 3-time linear HW champ.

Sam Langford beat 10 Hall of Famers (not including Jack Blackburn), as did Sugar Ray Robinson.

If you're talking about Ring magazines fight of the year, Ali won it 6 times.

    1963 vs Doug Jones
1964 vs Sonny Liston (was there really nothing better that year?)
    1971 vs Joe Frazier
    1974 vs George Foreman
    1975 vs Joe Frazier
1978 vs Leon Spinks (serious WTF there)

Carmen Basillio won it 5 times, 5 years straight.

Joe Frazier and Arturo Gatti are on 4, and Micky Ward, Rocky Marciano and Rocky Graziano have 3 wins.

I always thought Ali winning the title 3 times was always a bit...hyped,i guess would be the right word.....
Im mean losing to and then beating "Neon Leon" to win it back....Not the greatest story ever...

All the other records though...what a legend.

Cleaning the greatest era of heavyweights out twice 10yrs apart is not hype.

You must have really meant it then!

    Mando Ramos died last night.
Good fighter with a tragic life.

I never said it was...Im just saying losing to Neon Leon and then winning in the re-match to win the championship the 3rd time isnt the amazing story it's made out to be,Considering Leons circumstances...Getting blitzed and not being able to handle the fame such and such.

    Everything else though..Obviusly amazing.
