I thought it was a good fight...Thompson tried his best, he gave Wlad a hard fight and Wlad closed the show with the big KO.....what's all the shit talking about

When if EVER has a righty vs southpaw been a awesome stylistic matchup ESPECIALLY at heavyweight. Keeping that in mind I thought it was a very good fight, it was 1000 times better than Wlad-Sultan. In this fight neither Wlad nor Thompson had anything to be ashamed of.

Wlad proved he could take some punishment, land some body shots...some big ones too, and he fought hard for 11 rounds proving he has good stamina.

I wouldn't say it was a good fight. Certainly better than the Sultan one though. I was extremely impressed with Thompsons chin. He took some big straight right hands off Wlad but remained quite competitive throughout until the 10th round. I then started feeling well a bit sorry for him and I think he should have been pulled out by his corner as he was clearly in a lot of pain and was never going to win the fight, to me he was looking round for someone to pull him out without him quitting himself after they fell over on the ropes.
As for the homosexual comments! I'd love to see him say it to either mans face then see his face smashed straight in. At the end of the day it was a dull fight because of the contrasting styles of the two fighters and the fact that it was a lefty v righty. A southpaw will quite often make a superior Orthodox fighter look bad as they get a lot more practice against orthodox fighters than the other way around.

That I can take...this wasn't an all time great fight but it was good considering the division it was in...that was Wladimir Klitschko TRADING punches ....didn't people want him to do that?....sure Thompson isn't a knockout king or any kind of big time power puncher but he hit Wlad often and with some good solid shots and Wlad didn't fall he didn't seem hurt and Thompson also provided a bad stylistic matchup what with him being a southpaw and all.

Wlad and Thompson fought hard they had some action in the fight and the ending was a very good one.

I was Angry yesterday; Maybe I should not have responded like that but a lot of people (Lyle etc) Responded like some real bitc hes. So you have fought some amateur fights and you think you can personally do better? It's not surprising for a boxer to have such a gross amount of arrogance. In your post you don't give any respect to a guy apparently very few fighters can test much less beat...and Tony Thompson deserves respect for making it to the 11th round period, everyone thought it was going to be an early KO. As for never fighting a southpaw, it's very different I've sparred with a couple of them and it does pose problems for throwing the jab and just finding your openings in general.

Thompson is 6'5....I doubt he's had much of an opportunity to SLIP punches as you don't want to give up your height and reach. Winky Wright one of the best defensive fighters of the modern era rarely SLIPS punches.


Wlad fought scared? No Wlad fought at a measured pace and why fight at a measured pace? Because he beat the crap out of Purrity and Brewster and they weathered the storm and were able to turn the tables. Wlad took more punishment from Thompson than has recently been the case. Wlad has 45 KO's out of 51 fights not only because of his power but because he fights smart...he can tire someone out and make them want to not get up before he ever puts them down and that is EXACTLY what happened to Thompson.


You don't like Wlad fine join the club, you don't like Thompson fine, but if you're going to disrespect fighters the way you started the thread out then you're not going to recieve glowing reviews for your comments. So I suggest you tone down the name calling of the fighters and just focus on the actual fight that went on which even I might agree with you on....should Wlad have gone to the body more? YES. Should Thompson have thrown more punches? YES. Does Wlad tie up a lot? Yes, but it's part of his fight strategy and it might make for an ugly fight but it's worked for him extremely well.

Wlad isn't a perfect fighter but he's a good heavyweight and by the end of his career he may be a great champion....like it or not

Amat, its a thing that fighters do with there back foot to make them further away, but in fact biomechanicaly makes them nearer to get hit and makes movement harder puts pressure on there back and strain on the groin stopping Lateral movement having there feet to Wide and having to reach with there shots. What goes forward is there chin and if somethings coming the other way it Hurts.

Wlad didn't fight his best tonight but he got the W and he got the KO...and Thompson proved himself as a legit top teir heavyweight, but no one wants to give ANY credit to anyone...and I guess we'll see you guys do a little better when you earn your shots at Wladimir
