Just look at his recent fights, an awful jab fest against Lamon Brewster in a completely one sided but totally dull mismatch. We had the hopelessly outclassed Ray Austin, a guy who should never have been fighting for a world title.

The fight with Ibragimov was 12 rounds of pure tedium and now his fight with Thompson was dull as well.

The last time Klitschko looked exciting was early 2006 against Chris Bryd.
Thing is he unlike most fighters he never claims he is gonna turn on a barn burner of a fight. He just gets the job done.

I'd rather look bad and win then look good and get KTFO. Half the problem is that his opponents fight shit scared and dont press the fight. Wlad may look sloppy but the guys he fights look fucken terrible. They look bad, get beat, and Wlad cops the stick. Makes no sense.

I think that's another thing. A lot of his opponents do fight scared. Mike Tyson also faced a lot of scared opponents as did a lot of fighters as did Roy Jones but they usually scored KO's and got their opponents out of there because they were on another level. Wlad is on that other level right now but doesn't really fight at his own pace but rather his opponent's. If you noticed in the final round today, Thompson came out considerably more charged then he had at any other time in the bout, had a lot more energy and put together some punches. Wlad responded with his best string of punches immediately thereafter.

Ibragimov was as tentative as you could possibly be in the ring but Klitschko was more then happy to carry him that way instead of turning up the heat on Sultan, he just plodded with neither of them taking many risks.

If Wlad wants to make himself more appealing to fans (which he should) then he is going to have to act like the best guy in the division and he's going to have to dictate the pace of these fights. I personally think his last impressive performance where he really put everyone on notice was against Peter. And that's strange because he was down 3 time sbut he battled through it and won it convincingly even having Peter out on his feet in the end there. It's no coincidence either imo as Peter was the last guy to bring a lot of energy into the ring with Klitschko and force Wlad to fight above his usual pace. That's why I wouldn't mind to see him in the ring with Povetkin and Arreola because I'm sure Wlad would win but I'm also sure he would do it with more vigor then he has been lately.

...i may not agree with the way wlad is fighting recently but i do understand, they are just refusing to take any chances these days. Both he and manny are perfectly fine using the jab (which he didn't yesterday) and blasting the right hand every now and again to keep people honest, with the level of comp he's been in with it's been enough and we as fans just get screwed. He's run through the guys put in front of him and after talking to jermain taylor figure being a boring champ is better than not being champ at all, we won't see an agressive klitchko till he's in with someone who actally has a chance of beating him, c'mon now tony the tiger ? My expectations were exactly as high as this fight turned out to be so i'm not dissappointed at all. I know where all the hate is coming from but klitschko hasn't lost or even come close recently, from his point of view...we can all complain but none of us can beat him..till someone can this is the effort we can always expect to see, no more of that cory sanders bullshit in his and emmanuels eyes. All heavyweights should already know, you gotta come beat wlad not wait to catch wlad trying to beat you he'll make the fight as exciting or boring as he needs to, winning the current round seems like his goal, not a bad plan really.

My gripe is not with Klitschko at all, my gripe is with the state of the Division its the worst Ive ever known it skill wise.Instead of Mamoths in terrible condition I want to watch something that is evolving in the right direction in thought skill and beuaty of movement. Klitschko being the leader of the pack is the one who gets picked on. Hitler gets picked on for the last war when all he wanted was Peace. A peace of Poland a peice of France a peice of Russia ect ect.

I think Klitschko clearly dominated the fihgt, and I have no idea how his face got so busted up because Thompson hardly landed any significant blows. He was touching Kiltschko for sure, but that was about it. I still think WLad has clearly shown he is the best heavyweight in the world, and I don't think Thompson was susceptible to the jab like somebody on here said or Klitschko would have been able to land it more.

Klitschko has realized that he can't be an exciting fighter if he wants to be unbeatable. He needs to fight smart, last night I actually felt in some parts he opponent up too much, and thats when he got tagged the few times he did.

I don't know why all the hate for last nights fight but as heavyweight fights go lately I think it was above average. AS someone else mentioned I'd much rather look borring in winning than exciting in loosing, we may not like it but winning is the goal. As for people who claim that he'll lose viewers I'm pretty sure he's got millions of german and ukrainian fans who'd watch him no matter what.

You have it wrong my man. You say his opponents fight scared but haven't you noticed how many of them have tried to push the fight against him only to be held all night long!?

That is the main thing that keeps him from losing.

I need all you guys/girls to ask yourselves: Would wlad still be winning these fights if he didn't hold as soon as he finished throwing or as soon as his opponents got within 5 feet of him?

Not to mention, he keeps pulling guys heads down and laying on their back every chance he gets. How can you defend that?

Imagine if he didn't get away with that. He would lose trust me.
