No, Mike wont answer him at all, Steve writes, sends articals that would be of interest to him and phones.

Steves take on this is that Mike is deep down inside ashamed of what he has become because he knows what Cus would think of him and while Mike surrounds himself with all the hangers on like Darryl "Rolls Royce" I cant remember his second name and all the other leaching idiots like Tom Patti who used to train under Cus and lived in the house but is now trying to be an actor and is leaching off Mikes fame still, he has apeared in a couple of films, one was with Mike in a film directed by the twaat who ddi the recent documentary.

Steve hated that film also, Mike was made to look stupid and sad.

Steve has even written and spoken directly to Harlen Werner who is Mikes manager now, he advised that rather than do the poor sparring exhibitions they tried, Mike should travel to american forces bases and spar the troops, this would get Mike good publicity and keep him fit to boot for any possible comeback.

Steve still has a plan to make Mike a successfull boxer again, he still works with Kevin Rooney and both would welcome Mike back with open arms, Steve was managing Lenord Piuerre who now trains other fighters.

steve told me a fascinating story regarding Mike.

A few months before Mike fought Lewis he visited Catskills out the blue looking for Kevin and Steve, neither Steve nor Kevin were around, maybe he wanted to hook back up because deep down he knows thats the only team that works.

Steve found out and they met up, he offered Mike the plan of getting back together, doing aload of publicity things and a series of comeback fights but as soon as Mike got back with the idiots, fearing theyd lose their gravy gtrain, they persuaded Mike to ignore Steve.

What could have been in the Lewis fight eh?

Mike is embarrassed with himself, he knows that the old team made him, he was a spokesperson for the fbi and the new york police department he advertised pepsi and nintendo, no other fighter would be doing these things.

Mike was guided with brilliance, he was offered another similar deal back when King poached him, which included a little world tour, Bruno in London, an argie fighter in argentina who I cant remember, I think he
fought Holmes and then Holyfield in las Vegas.

Every thing Steve has told me makes sense, the plans he has laid out would make Mike a positive figure once again, he may not be successfull at fighting any more but they would give him a very good shot at it. Mike has never given any other trainer the respect he showed Rooney he alzso never worked as hard for anyone else, its probably all to late for the boxing side now but not for Mike to make good money from his name alone.

King was a leach as was Finkle as is Harlen Werner

Steve just wants whats best for Mike, regaining his positive image and status and becoming a legit millionaire once again, he is now but its tied up in a few places.

Tyson should leave the fighting now, I think he does not have the desire and do not think his body is up for the punishment of training. Still cannot beleive he is has hangers on, I thought he was broke. I wish he would get back with Steve and Kevin and maybe even Teddy!

Mike is his own master but he lets others dictate how he lives his life.

He still has money, he still has fame, which is why he still has leaches.

Steve and Kevin were a part of the team that made Mike Tyson, they have never wronged him, they still want whats best for him.

They probably realise that his fighting days are over but if they hatched a plan for Mike to fight again it would make shiit loads.

For a start the reunion thing would draw massive interest, he could travel the world fighting every month, it wouldnt have to even be just 4 rounders, it could be just any old bum, people will still pay to watch Mike, especially if he got back with Rooney, they would want to see some of the old moves, against anyone.

With the heavyweights as dire and boring as they are im sure after a dozen fights hed have offers, they could pick and choose.

I think physically Mike could still fight, his problem has been shiit handling, you dont hrow an old man in with anyone that has desire, just fight anyone glad of a payday, like foreman did. People may laugh but they would still watch, knowing that they would get some good old fashioned highlight reel knockouts from Iron Mike.

hes never been given the chance to get any momentum in a comeback, the closest he came was when he fought francis, saverese then Golota, the Golota fight is the best Mike looked in a long time because hed been active, it was then a year before he bloated for the first time and fought Nielsen, the weight was a give away on Mikes desire, he was always in good shape. After that it was 8 months then Lewis, he was denied a warm up fight with Mercer by Lewis.

He wasd scheduled to fight David izon soon after the Golota fight, it was starting to look very interesting for him, he would have been sharp but without the proper Damato system being drilled int o him he was only gonna make the same mistakes but he would have been sharp and fit.

For some reason the Izon fight fell through

I think that Mikes behaviour since the split is down to the split, he feels bad about it but if he got back with them it would be like a weight off his shoulders and would lift him.

I agree if he kept active he would have been a threat to the division and even Lewis. The show in the UK were a big hit and he could have fought regularly against mediocre fighters. Even after the Etienne fight, he took a long time off, which shows he did not have the interest. He also looked good against Danny for the first couple of rounds and it seemed Roach did get him in condition, if a little muscle bound. Fenech was just a friend who probably did not push him enough to get in condition. I also noticed that Tyson was getting cut more regularly from fights which was probably down to his poorer defence but also the old scar tissues. He also complains of a bad back, which must be from the intense training he did at his peak, and that probably hampered him.

The last few fights of Tysons career he always complained about something being wrong or about retireing he really didnt want to fight and alot of that was to do with the fact he didnt respect his team.

Steve said that in a comparison between Tyson and Ali or a mythical matchup, that he judged fighters at their respective worst, in their primes he said in Alis work towards the title he was getting decked and gifting decisions against the likes of doug jones and sonny banks, whereas Mike was maybe losing a couple of rounds against Mitch Green and not knocking out James Tillis.

Steve also said that Mike was so consistent and dominant when he was whith the original team because if he was having any kind of trouble during a round he would return to a corner that he respected, trusted and loved, he had a dream team, the very best team frtom management to training, he got reasurance.

He would move on to teams who didnt understand the Damato numbers system, he would have people rub his face with condoms to put swelling down because they couldnt make him work in training or listen during a fight, they didnt have advise to give that could possibly help.

Mike trained a little with Buddy Mcgirt a few years ago and Buddy said he was amazed at Mikes knowledge and how he never realised that the Damato system was all about throwing combinations and making movements that put you in a position to throw again without reajusting, Mike didnt just have a style he had a system which is why he was so sucsessfull and why when he wasnt being drilled in it he wasnt winning or looking good.

People joke about Tyson fans cliche of if Mike got back with Rooney but Mike needed him, no one else can teach that system to Mike.

Tyson needed strict discipline, not in boxing but in life skills. He did need to learn that there are bad, manipulative people out there that would use him for the wealth and fame. Once Cus and Jim died he was not empowered enough to make the right decisions and was too dependent on them. They needed to ensure that he was able to survive without them.

Ultimately he made the choices and he has to learn to live with the consequences for his actions but more could have been done to make him independent.

I think Ali was a different fighter all together and he did have character.
