Calzaghe is a great fighter and will go down as an atg, one bad performance against a guy that is the king of making fighters look bad and he is over-rated feather-fistedand chinny.
O the fickality of boxing fans.

Maybe not but Hopkins was the liniat 175lb champ coming off his best b2b career wins.
if that doesnt how about defending your title 22 times or being 18yrs undefeated or being only the second man in boxing history to hold all 5 recognised alphabets in one weight class. Or holding the 168lb liniar championship and the same time holding the 175lb.
Take your pick i could go on.
I disagree he beat Reid and Hopkins and he should have been greater fighter but he fell into the comfort zone with Warren and the rest is history.
Beat me to it 'Markusdarkus', i have just spent the last 10 minutes surfing the net and writing down the ages of Marciano's victims only to find you beat me to it
For the record Marciano was aged between 29 and 32 while beating those old men.
'ssss' proberbly just like the vast majority of sports fans think Marciano is a boxing God, that is my very point, if Calzaghe finishes his career 50 and 0 breaking every record in the book including wins over Roy Jones jr, Hopkins and Kessler, Calzaghe will become a boxing legend, even if boxing connaisseurs think differently.
Marciano is a good comparison to Calzaghe, Marciano only won the world title against 5 different boxers and they were all old men, Louis and Walcott never boxed again they were so old, Marciano would not have beaten some {most} of his world title victims in their hayday.
If Calzaghe hands are shot, his heart is no longer in it, his reactions are gone fair enough retire, but if he is able to carry on he should try and get to 50 and 0 and take his chance for perceived greatness by the masses {even if the experts think/know different alla Marciano}
They were the best Heavyweights at that time regardless of age it isn't Rocky Marciano's fault he fought the best at that time and all of those names are more highly regarded than any names you mentioned regardless of age and if your bringing age into it remind me how old Bernard Hopkins was ? and remind me how much weight Chris Eubank had to lose in 1 week ? you can pick apart anyone resume infact you could make an argument most of Calzaghe's best opponents were past there prime but like i said Joe Calzaghe is very good fighter and i won't pick apart his record because like i said you can pick apart anyones resume even the great Sugar Ray Robinson.
You missed the point i was just pointing out those names are more highly regarded than Kessler Hopkins Eubank look at all time P4P lists and Ezzard Charles Archie Moore Joe Louis are all in top 15 fighters of all time regardless what age they were that is the facts amongst boxing historians and i don't hold Rocky Marciano as a boxing god i think there were atleast 4 Heavyweights better than him Jack Johnson Larry Holmes Muhammad Ali Joe Louis to name a few im not even Rocky Marciano fan i just have seen too much hating on Rocky Marciano on boxing forums when the fact is he beat every Heavyweight that needed beating in his era.
Its not the Rocks fault im just pointing out that what he done is in no way better than what Joe Calzaghe done at 168.
The Rock had power thats why he is rememberd and maybe because he was white.
Salvador Sanchez did far more than the Rock retired 50 fights undefeated is he spoke about with such affection?
