Exciting fighter with amazing balance great combination punching and probably one of the fastest Heavyweights ever only Floyd Patterson and Muhammad Ali are in Mike Tysons league in the speed department and i think his speed contributed alot to his power. The problem is for Mike Tyson is that at the time he come along most of the 80s Heavyweight talent were shot fighters and plus Mike Tyson never beat a great fighter in there prime so we will never know how good he really was because he was never really tested and i think you only see the best in a fighter when there severely challenged because you see there heart, will, and you see them got into another gear amongst plenty of other things sadly for Mike Tyson his era wasn't that great so there was no fighter at that time to really teste but in my opinion he could of been of the best Heavyweights ever and only very few Heavyweights could beat Mike Tyson at his peak.

Maybe not but I think they would have done. Who did Tyson actually beat at his peak? Bruno? bum. Holmes? Old man. Spinks? Lightheavy. Ruddock? Look what Lennox did to him. Tyson was never as good as the media made him out to be. A lot of people (me included) thought he was better than he really was and a lot of fighters were beaten before they got in the ring because they were frightened of him. An ideal example is Bonecrusher he went in clearly just to survive and then when he hit Tyson right at the end he nearly KO'd him in fact I think that had he landed that punch in the middle rounds he would have knocked Tyson out
Even with Cus in his corner Mike Tyson's style is only good for youthful fighters so his decline would still have been quick much like Floyd Patterson's.
Mike Tyson is a Great fighter but he's at least behind Lewis and Holyfield.
In his prime a very exiting disciplined fighter that did the most with his potential...great hand speed, excellent power in both hands and relentless pressure...He fought in a weak era and was not able to maintain the longevity at top that makes someone an ATG...I will also say that in his prime he would have given any of the ATG's a great fight, unfortunately his prime was so short...
Youngest heavyweight champion is a great achievement that no one can take away from him...
The young wreckless Lennox Lewis would of been KO'ed and so would the older more intelligent Lewis even when Lewis went with Steward he still got caught against lesser fighters and was hurt against Ray Mercer Shannon Briggs Zeljko Mavrovic and against an older Evander Holyfield and as for Evander Holyfield he could fight smart but often he let his pride get in the way and he took far too much punishment like against Bert Cooper Alex Stewart just to name a few and no one could get brave and stand toe to toe with a prime Mike Tyson in my opinion anyway.
Holyfield has tyson number he was tougher mentally and there no way tyson can knock out a prime Holyfeild. be the same wear him down and knock himout like he did last time they fought dont bring up Tyson was not prime because Holyfeild was older more battle worn and heart condition. Tyson is lucky he fought in the weakest era of boxing since the rock maybe weaker even.

On the whole he should be classed as great.
However without Cus he was never whole.
Tyson lacked mental stability. This presented itself as a lack of fortitude when up against tough times. Tyson had he been with Cus would have been a far better boxer.
