Yeah had to feel for the young bloke ,its a hard one to watch and will live with him forever. Cotto did right by going straight to them at ringside to put them at ease ; why climb back into the ring once your out.

If HBO are really annoyed with Cotto then they need to take a look at themselves. Boxing is a hurt business - it's not like Cotto missed a putt, or hit a tennis ball out of court.
The post fight interview is a courtesy that the fighters extend to the network - if you're hurting or need medical treatment you go and get it and if that means you bail on the network then tough shit.
Were HBO annoyed that Levander Johnson couldn't give a post fight interview? Wankers...
"I take good care of my people. I like to inflict permanent psychological damage."
Yes, I was really disgusted with them for doing that. That showed no class.
You know how hard that was for them to see that, and then for HBO to try to capitalize on that pain is disgusting.
I just sent HBO an email letting them know how that showed no class.
If anyone else wants to send one, here is the link.

I never even thought of that, personally Im pissed because even in victory they couldnt give Margarito his props. The man is the best WW in the world after that and all they can think of showing is Cottos??
Jim Lampley was f'ing crying I think they were hurt as much as Cotto.
The key is Self-discipline.
Now should a unification bout happen between Williams and Margarito?
I agree, I can understand watching it as it happened. But showing that montage of Cotto bloody and the family in tears was a bit odd.
my sense on the matter when it happened was that HBO was simply trying to be melodramatic (and i guess with this particular footage they had time to burn). in another thread, i pointed out how HBO is generally melodramatic; in other words, they spend a lot of precious time and words hyping what needs no hype, thus both insulting our intelligence (and devotion to the sport) and distracting us from the fight. by the way, all this talk about puerto rico versus mexico is a perfect example of this utter bullshit. this was a tremendous event between two specific athletes, cotto and margarito, not some bullshit part IV of some hollywood movie. this holds regardless of whether many puerto ricans and mexicans do emphasize to themselves some enduring rivalry.
what HBO needs to do is drop kellerman, drop the old drunk (i forget his name), drop buffer (i remember there was a thread on buffer vs. lennon; i couldn't believe how many preferred buffer--the professional wrestling-like used car salesman announcer--to lennon), and just have steward and/or an intelligent boxer, and keep the play-by-play (Lampley) on a short leash.

I didnt see any of this. I watched the British coverage . So basically HBO tried to embarass Cotto by showing all the worst parts .
I heard Cotto gave Tony props . Was that at the post fight presser then ?
Wow, I have no clue what you guys are complaining about.
They showed a montage of clips to show what a brutal fight it was and what an emotional toll it took on the family of the loser. It wasn't anti-Cotto.
