I think if anything the first 6 rounds showed that Margarito can be badly outboxed, and Mayweather is still head over shoulders the best boxer in the world. Margarito is a good fighter, but no way can he catch Mayweather.

I think Cotto tired from not being able to breath due to his nose and mouth bleeding. The nose gives you the best oxygen intake, and it was bleeding way too much.

still think Margarito is a joke? ill quote you...

Danny G. I repect you standing by your man and giving props to Margo...but i cannot get this out of my mind a couple of months:

Danny G:
Yes, I said DROPPED. How many Tony fights have you studied? 2?
Watch his whole career and watch him get dropped several times.
Cotto has more than enough tools to win.
And yes I saw the second fight. I said this fight would be no different from the first fight.
Cotto is no Cintron.
Cotto is no Gatti

That little gem was followed by comparing Marg to Gomez…hmmmm looked like Tony flipped that script.
There was some other crap about Cotto doing a rope a dope…nah that didn’t happen eithe. You went on to take away some rep and call me a noob.....beginners luck for me I guess.

Margarito put on a good performance and deserves all the credit for the win.

i would love to see a rematch.

All credit to Margarito he aint the best boxer but he is one hell of a warrior he just took everything Cotto hit him with and kept coming back.

As for Cotto he will be back he is to good not to be back he gave his all last night and fell short but still looking forward to when he gets in the ring next time out he's a class fighter that just got outgunned on the night.

Cotto vs Margarito II anyone?

Can Miguel bounce back?

Tony was up on 2 score cards.

Will this bring Mayweather Jr out of retirement?

Does Floyd want any of the Tornado? He didn't before.

I guess now we know why. Cotto hit Tony with everything but the kitchen sink and the man just kept coming. Tony is not very polished but damn it does he bring it.
Cotto will do well to bounce back from this . Its was teh type of beating that once undefeated fighters take they are never teh sam,e again liek Hatton - Floyd or Calzaghe - Lacy .

Floyd will no way comeback for Tony . He is scared . Simple.

A rematch may be a decent one down the road but right away would be easy for Tony and career suicide for Cotto.

Cotto will have trouble coming back from that, that was a beat down. At the end He didnt want to be there, a broken man, Ive a feeling thats it.

Why are people talking about a rematch like that fight was close? On the cards it was fairly closeish i felt, but only because thats how marga had to fight it.

There were numerous times in the match where cotto looked ready to go, it was only a matter of time. It's not like he took a clean punch and got sparked either, Toni made him basicaly quit and give up; He kept going down down and stubbling about, he showed great great heart to try, but he couldn't take anymore. That shit stays in your head for a long long time, you don't forget that over night or by beating a punch bag until the rematch.

Cotto can still whoop 99% of the other fighters there, he just never realy had a chanc against a guy who was able to hurt him and not being able to hurt ihm back. He needed the high and reach to out jab him and keep him away, it was only a matter of time before toni got in close and his punches took their tol,e the rematch will be the same, come on...

Would much much rather see toni fight berto or get one back off williams. Cotto maybe come back agaisnt cintron and look for other names before a rematch.

so with that logic, you're saying that Cotto's defense is better than Mayweathers..

enough with this heresy.

I'm saying cotto's defence is damn good. Tony handled cotto's defence and speed advantage and he will handle floyd's defence and speed advantage.

Terrible logic, because Floyd's speed and defense advantage is ten times what Cotto's is.

think its funny how people think Cotto's stamina let him down, Margarito fought the right fight and ripped into Cotto's body right from the bell, he was getting countered well but really hammered the wind out of Cotto, then busting his nose was a bonus. man he walked through bombs from Cotto great fight all round. weather Margarito beats Floyd or not remains to be seen, but the fact remains Floyd ducked him and took easier options

Well done to both fighters.
Cotto boxed superbly, but the patience, poise and determination Margo showed in stalking the guy I have and always will shoput for was incredible.

Big up to Margarito.
Big up to Miguel Cotto.
