I don't think it can be classed as one of Hattons best as obviuosly Magee is quite a step below names such as Tszyu, Collazo, Castillo, Urango and even Maussa, but it was a cracking fight.

Ricky got the shock of his life in the first, but boxed excellently for the remainder, primarily on the backfoot.

Eamon Magee has a very solid chin i don't think he has ever been stopped it was a good test for Ricky Hatton and he coped with it well.

My memories of this fight is it was a decent little contest for two rounds but after that all Eamon did was sit on the ropes and wait for opportunities to counter whilst Hatton smothered his own work.

I remember at 1 point the entire crowd cheered cuz Magee moved out of the corner for once . Says it all really

Agreed great domestic fight, I wish Thaxton could have got a shot against Khan he deserved a bit of spotlight
