Sugar Ray Robinson, Thomas Hearns, Felix Trinidad,
Thats the only 3 that are coming to mind at the moment can you think of anymore ?

I doubt anyone could stop him at WW UD yes, but Cotto didnt even make him blink

If it could have been done, I'd say Hearns would have been the one. His power at WW was insane with that cobra strike of a straight right hand.

Love Trinidad through career....but I do not see him stopping Margarito.Much faster but he hi,self would have some very vulnerable moments.
i think he would have, both fighters are similar as in that neither are fast starters, i'd say that both have great stamina, as Trinidad proved through out his career, but speed, power, and a stiffer jab, imo would have helped Trinidad bust him up, and probably win off a swelling stoppage
Agreed on the speed=power asset for Tito.Im thinking Tony starts fast here as Tito was suseptible in the early stages. While Tito was dropped quite a few ,It was always telling the way he just sort of popped up to resume the battle with minimal effects and walked in.I think Trinidads downfall would be his so-so ability at fighting while backing up,he could juke off the sides well but Margarito would be on him like a smothering blanket from mass angels and while he would catch some his volume and power would keep Tito in check.
I agree with you somewhat the early rounds would be the worry..
not that i think tito would be in too much trouble but if tony kept up the volume after a knockdown it might result in a stoppage just for the sheer pressure.. He wouldnt generally have to be hurt or be a good stoppage..
otherwise i think tito would do it big later on in the fight..
Thing is naturally tony tends to start a little slower and such so boxing for the first couple rounds tito gets a rythym and it'd be war later but i have tito

I don't think SRR or Trinidad would have stopped him. Both of those guys would have won decisions IMO, particularily SRR who was smart enough to know that with a guy like that, cruising to a decision would be your best bet.
Hearns would be more apt to bang with Marg and thus more likely to stop him IMO.
I hear you but I think Titos moxie and confidence would get the better of him and keep him walking forward through out the fight, selling out for the power, leaving him very vulnerable as Margarito is known to get stronger down the stretch.Tito would be wise to Box,box & more box Imo![]()
I would give Felix Trinidad a great chance of stopping Antonio Margarito as good as Antonio Margarito's chin is............
I've just been watching some of Felix Trinidad's early Welterweight title defences and he was an animal when he got warmed up no one could survive that left hook in my opinion.

I all honesty, probably HEarns could have done it. I also see Hagler being able to finish off an entire fight plan that Cotto was attempting but then again he did like to war so maybe would have run into the same problem.
