Come on man,Do you honestly think Cotto was trying to emulate Mayweather?To an open mind,the man has evolved & improved his skill set before our eyes from somewhat raw instinct trader to a vastly Improved Boxer .He lost a fight but thats been known to happen in this sport when you want tough fights & step up against top tier threats.

Ricky Hatton is my favourite active fighter.

Floyd is the fighter I try to emulate.
Certainly, Floyd gets criticsed, but remeber, in the back of everyone's minds they know he is the best and the more they criticise the more you know its true.

Gatti, Baldomir, and Mitchell were past their primes or never even had primes AND the fact that Miguel Cotto has fought virtually the same competition as Floyd (different fights vs "the best" but virtually the same otherwise) and Margarito has been itching for a (and deserving of) fight for a looooong time and what does Floyd do? He fights Ricky Hatton at a weight where Ricky is useless!


So there IS truth to Floyd trying to cover his ass and protect that 0 in the loss column for as long as possible. Is there a coincidence that Cotto-Margarito happened and no one wanted Floyd-De la Hoya II and then Floyd retired suddenly? I don't think so, I think Floyd knew if he was to stick around he'd HAVE to fight either Cotto or Margarito OR both.....but when in the history of boxing have we given a boxer (the self proclaimed greatest of all-time) this much SLACK when he obviously has very legitimate competition which could only add to his legacy but yes Floyd is a pussy....if you can call any prize fighter a pussy it's got to be Floyd

Not sure if we can compare Cotto's (the most loved boxer around here) resume with ODLH and Mayweather (the most hated of the forum). Lots of people got excited when he faced Gomez which was not really someone we can compare with Mayweather, Hatton, Pac, ODLH, etc. People were like "Oh my gawd! Cotto beat the great Gomez!". Also faced 2 guys passed their primes. Sometimes I think he's overrated. Cotto finally faced a guy who was in his prime and looked what happened.

Floyd even turned down HBO's contract for a few million. More than 20 million for ODLH, 15 million for Hatton, and then face a guy who would give him way less? Nobody in his right mind would fight a guy for way less money. It would be smart to let Cotto build up his name but look at him, he lost so bad that it makes it more difficult for that to happen. Gotta come back. Still, I find it hard to see a guy who gets exposed on all his fights (cuts, jaw/chin, rocked, tires halfway, way slower than Mayweather, etc.) to beat a guy (Mayweather) who has yet to show a clear weakness/flaw. No matter how much I wish Cotto beat Mayweather, I just can't see it.

if floyd is a pussy for retireing because he wasn't gettin credit for anything he was doing then cotto is also a pussy because even though he got in the ring with margo his style of fighting that night let us all know he wanted no part of margo in the ring.
as for floyd fighting hatton he was trying to get that fight after he faught gatti hatton didnt want it then called floyd out after he beat a old castillo floyd just steped up to the plate and gave hatton what he wanted but he could have easily said hatton is a joke because he didnt want to fight me years ago for whatever reason.
