I'd probably agree but how much better could he have got? I think he was close to the finished article. He could maybe have improved his mental side and not been dragged into wars as much.

I'm riding the fence and saying a draw.

Maybe Pedroza by KO on a right uppercut to the groin, left elbow to the temple, then a right uppercut to the hip combo.

Tough call here both brilliant boxers lots of skill...

As a Chava fan I'd side with him. I think he'd be able to win a decision but it would take a perfect performance from Chava to do this. Chava would need to be precise and accurate with his punches.

The great thing about Pedroza is that he fought some of the best competition around from very early in his career.
In his 1st loss he faced top prospect at the time Perez.
He then fights Mexicos Alfonso Zamora who was the champ and was 24-0 with 24 kos and then Arnal yet another hard hitting prospect at the time.

When he fought for the title Lastra was the heavily favorite coming into the fight Pedroza was just there to get served but something happened that night and Pedroza showed signs of things to come. He fought well and stopped Lastra late in the fight.
His wins over Kobayashi, Olivares, Lockridge x2, Ford, La Porte, Lujan and his fight Barry tell it all.
