Miguel Cotto says Floyd Mayweather Jr will have to Answer

It sees like there is no in between here!! Sure Cotto just lost but he put up a great fight; the match he lost in was a classic and I'm convinced he'll be back! and may be better for the loss. Mayweather does not need to prove anything to the boxing public! Who hate him anyway, why should he?

And these threads after Margaritos biggest win should have been about Margarito!! he has earned the right to be respected!!

I disagree with you there Tito.. If you remember Floyd after taking 4 rounds to really get into a groove was digging and raking Judah to the body and scoring with the straight right, at the end of round 10 Floyd hurt Judah in the corner. Zab was tired and hurt looking for a breather fouled Mayweather in the infamous brawl.. Mayweather was beating up and breaking down Judah pretty damn good with sharp accurate punches, the majority fealt the Judah was gonna get stopped in round 11 if it wasnt for the low blow and back of the head punch.. So Cotto was finished what Mayweather started a year earlier

I'd have to watch the fight again, JT (PBF-Zab). I thought PBF def was giving Zab the boxing lesson of his life... to the point Zab got frustrated and fought back the only way he knew how... he fouled the sh*t out of Floyd. But was he getting broken down like he did against Miguel? I'd have to watch the fight again. Don't get me wrong... I think Floyd was coming on fast in the fight and may have even stopped Zab... I don't know. But I can't say the beating was as vicious as what Zab got from Cotto.

No one is saying Margo is without skills, Spic. He does throw a wide variety of shots. Head, body... he's a whirlwind of punches when he gets going. But damn bro.... you gotta admit, he's either got concrete or stainless steel in that jaw. Cotto must've bounced hundreds of clean shots off that head and nothing happened. That's not taking anything away from Tony, just stating an obvious fact.

Im with you on that fact TitoFan.But It just seems some are begrudging & negating Tonys ability to bring his offense to counter Cottos ,making it sound that the only reason He was victorious was because he takes a good shot.His body work was top notch as well as the defense...........yes defense of Tony in protecting his own body,but not so much the head I agree.I was very convinced,fan or not,that Cotto would do major damage to Margaritos body and going to the head would have small effect.

I think Tony took a major gamble, and it paid off. Margo knew that Cotto would use his vaunted left hook to the body, so he protected it, giving up his face. He was basically saying: "I can take your head shots, but I ain't giving up the body." One of Cotto's post-fight comments in the local press was something to the effect that he had tried to go to the body, but wasn't able to do so effectively.

The main reason Tony was able to keep throwing was because he wasn't hurt and that's how Cotto is effective he counters fighters they stop throwing and he then steps on the gas and knocks them out or wears them down to where their offense is ineffective

Its all apples and Oranges,I thought that Cotto's most realistic chance going in the fight at hurting Tony was Miguels killer Body attack....Head shots were secondary but would be tempting.If that was taken away and made ineffective due to Tony's Defense to body,using his rangy arms tucked into sides or the fact that he was putting punches on Cottos own body and squaring Cotto on the ropes.I think his under appreciated Offense was the winning factor....but an awesome chin did not hurt

At a press conference on Wednesday to help hype Saturday's highly anticipated HBO match up between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito, Promoter Bob Arum was on hand.

At the conference Arum made it clear what he thought of retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. Arum blasted Mayweather Jr. for not having anything that could hurt Cotto and assured those in attendance that Cotto is the reason Mayweather Jr. abruptly retired.

In regards to a Cotto vs Mayweather Jr. fight, Arum stated: "Miguel would run him out of the ring." Arum went on to add: "He has nothing to hurt Miguel with. Miguel drove him into retirement."

I hope this remark by arum to lure pbf off retirement will spark cotto-pbf: this is one of the biggest matches every boxing fan is dreanming of. If pbf is brave enough to answer arum's challenge to fight cotto and end some critics reaction that pbf is avoiding everybody at the 147 division.. then we will finally get what we always wanted. Hurrah for boxing!

You know what bro it's strange to say this but Floyd dosent look as destructive or violent as Cotto, but he carves people up with presicion.. Zab was so scared of Floyds counters that he stop punching and Mayweater picked him apart
