I mean there is no doubt that Bruno was a popular fighter and when he fought Lewis he was without doubt the more recognisable of the two, but I thought that Lewis in the last few years of his career became more popular than Bruno ever was and Ricky Hatton at this moment in time IMO is more recognisable.

Is this just me favouring two of my favourite fighters and underestimating Bruno's popularity?
I dont think Lewis was ever that popular in Britain. He was and is well respected but never loved the same way as Bruno or Hatton.

Lewis title defence against Botha in London was not even a sellout when you think tens of thousands went to the USA to watch Hatton and Bruno.

I think Bruno and Hatton were in real fights where they were likely to lose. Lewis vs Botha was onesided. People knew it too but it wasnt Lewis' fault he had no competion .
Hattons fight against Collazo? was on paper a one sided fight and loads of Brits went.

Calzaghe sold 35000 tickets to see him fight Manfrado.

Most of Bruno's fights were mis-matches but they were all sold out.

Lewis was not that popular in the UK because he was a bit to reserverd for us Brits.

But I liked hm I got to add.I was also shouting for him when he fought Bruno in Cardiff which my dad brought me to when I was a kid.
