Many things

and accomplishing all the above individual feats he has NEVER won an NBA playoff series. And next year with Tmac healthy and Ron artest playing for a full season in sacramento, the lakers will not make the NBA playoffs.

The moment Kobe took leadership of the lakers, the team started going down hill. In the 2002-2003 season when Shaq was injured and Kobe took over the leadership, the Lakers lost to the Spurs. Tbe next year when the team had Payton, Malone and Shaq, with Kobe being the leading scorer taking all the shots They lost. They almost got swept by the Pistons. I can assure you, that if Kobe was injured and malone wasn't, the Lakers would have performed waaaaaaaay better.

The following year without Shaq and Payton and Malone. The lakers failed to make the playoffs. (remember Dwayne Wade, Butler and Odom won an NBA playoffs series together with Miami). Kobe still hasn't accomplished this feat.

This year the lakers got to the playoffs thanks to injuries of yao and t mac, and they lost after leading 3-1.

There's only 3 players of substance in the league. Shaq, Duncan and Lebron.

As for coaches, there is only one coach of substance. Avery Johnson.

Phil Jackson did not make the Lakers win those championships. Shaq did. Shaq was in his prime under Phil Jackson. Phil Jackson cannot coach. With the Bulls, Jordan ran that team. When Jordan left Phil won no championships. This is when they foolishly thought Kukoc would be their next leader. Luckily Pippen had to carry that team on his back to give them respectability. It was only after Jordan returned then Phil won championships.

Then seeing the next thing that was hot "Shaq". He jumped to LA. Fact is, if you put Shaq with Grant Hill, or Jason Kidd or Scottie Pippen or Toney Parker with Greg Popovich, Lenny Wilkens as Coach. He still wins 3 championships in LA.

Phil Jackson can't coach. Phil Jackson was never a pivotal piece in anything. those 9 championships he won, was because of Jordan and Shaq. All the other pieces were expendable.
