The story that George publicises was that in his later career he had to hold back with the jab to keep his opponents closer.
This way he didn't throw them back and have to chase them before following up with his right.

Against Moorer, the jab was slapping at best, so I do believe him to some degree.

Gil Clancy said he thought Foreman's jab was up there with Liston's, among the best ever in HW history.

George was never a fan of using the jab really was he?...Not sure why though...I guess it may have been that he has/had soooo much power that he just felt there was really no need to use it.....A shame really because if George did use his jab the way he should have I don't think he would have ever been beaten...The Rope a dope would have been just that...A dope laying on a rope (and no that is not an Ali insult).....George would not have tired himself out throwing bombs the way he did for 8 rds.......

Not that it matters none today especially since the man is an ATG without question and one of the most if not the most devestating punchers to ever grace the planet....

No doubt, Foreman had horrible form on his punches and was notorious for punching with his arms only, but damn when he sat down on those punches g'night.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Foreman had a good jab, I'm not sure he consistently underused it, but his game plan in Zaire was pretty pitiful.

In fact, I'm convinced that his overemphasis on body shots when he commentates ("Holyfield jabbed Lewis in the chest, Lewis won't be able to breathe in a round or two!!!!!!!!") is a defense of his pathetic gameplan against Ali.
