Wow... Im not trying to be disrespectful but that article is full of shat. 90 percent of mexicans wanted Pacquaio to win agaisnt Diaz? Pacquaio is proably more popular then Oscar because they are mad he beat Chavez twice?.......... Ok mexicans for a fact know who Pacquaio is because he fought Morales beat him twice, Same with barrera, and they say he robbed Marquez twice. I would say 90 percent of mexicans hate pacquiao and want him to lose as they are very aware of his "mexicutioner" alias. Sure they don't know who Diaz is but the last name alone would make them root for him. Trust me when I say they dislike him I go to mexico alot, I live in a hispanic community Brownsville I can walk to mexico if I wanted to... Thats not to say mexicans think pac is a bum because they do admit he is a great fighter but it's just hard to root for a guy who is label a mexican killer...

I read the article and found it interesting that in a hispanic website, that about 75% of the people that reviewed this were anonymous yet stated they were Pinoys.

For me, Pac lost his "Mexicutioner" status after facing Marquez twice.

The thing about all this is I actually like Pacquiao, I think he's an amazing fighter. It's his fan base that disgusts me. Who gave Pacquiao the Mexicutioner title? His fans, Who says Pacquiao can beat Ivan Drago at catchweight? His fans. Just calm down on all this stuff, please.

You are not getting paid as his agents so why act as if you are?

We have no say over his negotiations so why start 50 threads about it when 1 will do?

Why are you trying to be the voice of the hispanic community when you are not hispanic?

Why are you taking the words of one hispanic and stating that is the opinion of an entire nation?

You guys are ruining the Pacquiao experience for me, there are plenty of Pacquiao fan boards all over the web, go hang out there with all the yes men.

Very well said! It's his fans that make it hard to like him when they label him as such.

Great post! Sums it up nicely.

For the record, I'm a Pacquiao fan. He's an exciting fighter, has KO power, and maybe even more important.... I like him IN and OUT of the ring. He's humble, gracious, and a credit to his country. But some of his fans do tend to go overboard a little bit. (Well..... maybe a little more than a little bit).

Also for the record, I'm totally against a Pacquaio-DLH matchup. But if it were to happen (which I hope to hell not), you can be sure I'll be rooting for Pacquiao to KO Oscar. The sight of Oscar swaggering away from a victory over a MUCH smaller Pacquiao, and talking it up like it's such a huge accomplishment for him, would make me violently ill.

That article is very credible. In my experience. almost 95% of Mex-American I asked about this fight picks Pac. here's some of them:

Yikes, I thought this thread was to become positive like the article. A Filipino athlete transcending racial ambiguity and bias by getting respect from another nationality.
I did not post this to brag about PACQUIAO being GODZILLA.
    Anyways. SALUD

Not every Manny Pacquiao fan thinks he is capable of walking on water, most of us are realistic and logical in our hopes for our Hero. We know his limitations and still stand behind him.
In all honesty though I'm starting to feel the animosity just because I'm rooting for him.

I am half-Mexican myself, which means 95% of my family is Mexican.

My family does not share that point of view.

If Mexican prospects boxers starting to adopt the alias "El Pacquiao" then it says a lot of PAC's popularity in Mexico's boxing community...

    That doesn't even make sense.
