Dont be silly Jones resume is legenderaly weak.

Some of his light heavy defences 1995-2000 are questionable I would have to agree.

the sad truth about nard in my opinion is he left it way to late....

He has a lot of names on his resume of whom he has fought, but take away the name and base it on threat and there are soly two, both of whom he had very little option of fighting...

First a green (in fairness as was hopkins) but unlike roy he wasn't one handed. He lost.

    Then Joe...

Every other name he fought was a name only, and no real threat, sorry.

That still doesn't get away from the fact that 3 of his best wins have came against fighters much smaller.

The name are nice to have but they are not GREAT wins.
i will agree with you to a point...

BUT there realy isnt a fighter outside heavy wou could stay in a devision to dominate it and had a great win record...

Sure i think hopkins should of left middle after he beat tito to fight names, as the devision was dead... and i will always hold that against him when i think about where he lays in all time, personaly i think he stayed there knowing it was dead and he had it easy...

but a fighter does have the right to stay and set records in the weight the rule in...

i argue with my self over this topic lol
He did dominate, no doubt. But there was actualy another fighter below HW dominating his weight. Joe C.

Trinidad was coming off of a TOTAL DESTRUCTION of a huge Middleweight in William Joppy before fighting Bhop, so for those of you who say he was no threat you know NOTHING about boxing.

Bernard Hopkins is an absolute SCIENTIST in the ring. He's not the most exciting fighter but "exciting" and "great fighter" do not mean the same thing. He knew every trick in the book and he is one of the hardest guys to fight in boxing history because he takes guys out of their game and drags them into deep water. IMO the #3 MW of all time behind Hagler and Monzon (and YES, ahead of SRR who was better at WW)
Joppy was a B- fighter at best who held a title in a weak division. Anytime he stepped up in class he was soundly beaten.

He wasn't the biggest of 160 guys either (like your stating).

Hopkins is very strong at 175 and was an absolute monster down at 160...So basicaly we had a strong light heavyweight going against a former WW in that one. Dont make it something it wasn't.

Hopkins is one loud mouth twat who needs to retire. His style is the worst in boxing. No wonder he has barely any fans I hope Pavlik knocks him out.

Hopkins has faced many good opponents I will give him that. But I will never watch him fight again. Especially after this last fight with Joe. PLEASE don't try to even begin to say he won this fight, should have been UD for Joe. Has everyone forgotten about him crying about low blows late in the fight, and not telling the ref he needed time? He was simply out of shape (of too old.. same thing) and over matched. Granted Joe is the man right now, but B-Hop is supposed P4P, right?
Pavlik will finally be someone who possesses a good chance of knocking him out. Finally, he will face a challenger who possess a legitimate threat. All these pitty-pat boxers, all smaller than he. Granted Tarver can be a big puncher, but he is more washed up than Jones.
Hopkins just doesn't bring to the table what I want in a boxing match. When he fought Winky not only could I not tell who won the fight in the end... I didn't care! Luckily for them, Katsidis was on the undercard, or they might have had all those subscribers asking for their money back.
