I've been thinking about this and I think that people are reading too much into the Lazcano fight. Hatton to me went into that fight without much of a gameplan and just expected to blow him away. He was wrong.
I expect him to go in with Paulie far better prepared and I have a feeling he will look good in this fight.
Also I'd like to say that I didn't think that he looked that bad against Floyd especially up until the 6th round. And don't forget he was in with p4p the best fighter in the world so there is certainly no shame in losing that fight.
er, it's the two of the best light welters, why wouldnt anyone be interested in it?

weather you like them or not the outcome of the fight will e a big big thing for the devision
If Hatton loses a fight vs Witter would still sell....if Paulie loses then a fight with Kendall Holt would be good or even Demitrius Hopkins. Even if Malinaggi wins he's not going to be able to get a big fight like Hatton will.
If Ricky wins he calls out either Pac or De la Hoya for a farewell fight if he wins or a payday if he loses then setting up a farewell fight vs someone liek Witter.
Your right about the division not being as strong as it once was. when Hatton took on Tszyu it was one of if not the best division in the sport. There were the likes of Tszyu, Hatton, Judah had not long since gone up and should really go back to the weight, Mayweather, Gatti and so on. Now the best we can hope for is Hatton v Malignaggi its a shame really.
Immortal Technique
The little match up at the city of manchester stadium when Hatton and Malignaggi both fought on the same bill didn't go as well as the night Hatton and Castillio fought on the same bill to set up a fight between them.I don't think they'll get the numbers ppv wise for this fight but will still get a decent gate on the night with Hatton fans getting more ticket allocation that the ridiculous 3,900 for the Floyd fight. It is after all for one of the main belts.
malignaggi is ok (you never know how he's going to come out to fight it could be his best night or worse) words from his own mouth. but for hatton who is held pretty high in boxing in a great amount of fans eyes it seems after pbf did him in he's picking a weaker group to fight because now he knows he can be beatin up
no not really excited about this one - but logical fight for ricky and the division as has been said
malignaggi can't KO ricky or hurt him and certainly won't match his workrate
hatton by comfortable points decision - or perhaps even late retirement a la Tszyu
certainly don't think its a ticket seller - be interesting to see how many make the journey
after that Pac at wembley and off into the sunset for him
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
