2. Muhammad Ali is over rated as a person. I don't think he was the hero, the "freedom fighter" that people paint him out to be. He was just another draft dodger who just happened to be very clever and manipulative and had a large podium to speak from.
You have to remember, when he was pardoned from Military service due to his subpar intelligence test (which is VERY dubious, as we all know Ali was a very intelligent, quick witted individual). Only when they redrafted did he care, and stand up again the war. When it wasn't his ass going over there, he could give a damn. Then when he had to, "ohh I have no quarrell with the Viet Kong."
Hell of a boxer, hell of a character, the BEST HW of all time, but totally overrated as a person. Who else cheats on their wife out in the open and still remains squeaky clean in the public eye. Even the President couldn't do it.
3. Rocky Marciano was overrated. I hate to say this, because I love the guy. Who doesn't? He was a man's man, he trained his ass off and he went to war every time out. But look at the compedition he fought. It drives me nuts to see him ranked in the top 3 of all time. His nuthuggers will constantly point out his undefeated record, which is impressive but anyone who saw the first Lastarza fight knows that there was a little luck involved too.
I think, like Wlad, he benefitted from a very weak HW division, and if he fought a bit later he wouldn't have been #1. I think Sonny Liston would have murdered the guy, as would have Ali, Foreman and Frazier IMO.
