That was one of my best bouts and I won. I think it worked because it took the pressure off and let me concentrate on what really mattered - my guard, my movement, my form.

Everything you read about sports psychology suggests that people who are more process focussed than result focussed tend to be more successful. I think that's why.

I don't agree that going in knowing you might loose is a problem unless you dwell on it and can't think about what you want to actually do in there.
Some good points, there is a world of difference between competing while accepting the possibility of losing and competing when you believe you can't win.

i walked ibnto a boxing gym, i had just quit smoking for like 6 months, and had smoked for years, more years than you have drawn breath.i got my first fight after two months, and i went against a man that had at least 20 years time in the ring, now he never went pro, and he took 12 years off for a prison term, but he had been around. i knew i would likely lose, but when i did it was a surprise to me and everyone. i had hurt him, and bad but made the mistake of shelling up and bobing and weaving...the hook i threw damn near hit the ref that got between us and stopped the fight.i was pissed he said he was concerned that i had taken some hard shots and erred in favor of my safety.i still dislike this guy, but learned a lot.i hate losing and i had strengths and weaknesses. i cater to the strengths and work the weaknesses. i just made a competition team for brazzillian jiujitsu..i felt like i was gonna die and wanted to cry when it was over. i knew i had failed. but when i was told otherwise, well, it was a rollercoaster. i'm sure you get that when you fight, also how many people want to just touch you? just say they were part of the nights fights? lots that watch never do, and they do hold their manhoods cheaply when a fighter walks into the room. so learn, have fun take notes tell jokes train repeat and most of all learn and grow...you will be a good one if you follow that.

YB: Use that anger and disappointment of your loss as an advantage when you're training. Let it motivate you to push yourself further and strive more.

I know this isn't related but I don't have enough posts to message. I'm guessing you are aware that TSN is showing Steve's fight tonight live. I was surprised as their usual schedule consists of women's ping pong or midget ten pin bowling. I'm sure CFH will be watching.

Yea I am aware and thank you. Freakin TSN tho, I never trust them. Last fight I was excited about seeing that they were showing, the previous show...I think NASCAR, they decided to overrun it to show the last 40 laps on a caution flag...then cut into boxing as it was almost done.

So let's keep our fingers crossed that the midget bowlers don't have to go to extra frames or something.

    Enjoy the fight!

I can't stand it when they do that.

Earlier today on satellite there was a boxing match that was supposed to be coming on (Channel 143, and it was a Holyfield fight, 2005), but when I turned it they had football going.

Footballs great and all, but I'd rather it not cut into a boxing match, particularly a match with Evander Holyfield.

I'm working tonight, so I probably won't get to watch it. At best, I'll get home in time to watch the end of it. Molitor should win this one pretty easily, but I'm worried he's overlooking his opponent as he's got the Caballero fight lined up.

Hopefully the Lions - Als game runs long (and ends in a Lions victory of course) and they have to delay the broadcast of the fight.
