Has to be one of the most strangest entertaining fighters I watched growing up but man was he fun to watch, you never knew what he would do next. He was always getting away with things only because the refs had never seen anything like him nor had his opponentsI was hoping that his son would have been just as entertaining as his father but it did not turn out that way. Paez Sr makes Malignaggi and Price NAZ seem normal by comparison
It's too bad that more videos of Paez Sr., are not available
Thanks for the post.

I think Paez fought pretty good vs Whitaker. Have you seen that one CutMeMick? Lots of action.
I agree whe Paez fought the people watched...
Before there was Eubank, before Naz, before Augustus there was Paez.
His son has similar style but not as whacky and Clownish as his pops.
One of my fav. things that Paez did in fights was he would wind up his right hand I mean literally wind it up and BAM! he'd launch forward and hit you with a left hook. Fucken classic or when he would pretend to be hurt and BAM! throw a right hand.
I think he did much better then people give him credit for. I was able to tag Pernell and he actually had a sequence I forget which round where he made Pernell miss like 3 or times with his waist movement.
I used to love watching him fight as a kid.
Never a dull moment unlike that other so called showman Camacho.
Balls
Sick ass vid Mick, did you put it together? Great footage. Egyption Lover's Egypt Egypt track makes it freakin chingon. It hits home & brings back memories of the late 80's and early 90's boxing fights down in Mexicali's La Calafia 'plaza de toros', nice yo. Dayum Maromero vs. Kelvin Grove back in the day, maybe like 20 years ago, when was this fight?. I'll forward the vid to my gente down in the imperial valley, SD, and up here in L.A.
He was a scrappy, spirited figher. His style definately matched his personality.
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
Like Dean said if only he would have dedicated himself to it.
He didn't train much all he did was spar. He didn't like road work or any of that stuff he just liked sparring. The dude was naturally gifted and was one of the best skilled fighters.
The Grove fights are classics.
O yeh...The Hair...The Dancin...The Pelvic Thrusts.
Really takes you back to the Paez days.![]()
