I'm hearing Liddel got KOed in one of the most brutal KOs in MMA history. Chuck was one the canvas for several minutes and had to be helped from the ring. Someone post it if you can.

I don't know why Chuck doesn't counter punch anymore...He is much more effective moving backwards than forwards. All of his strengths playoff countering. That being said when you watch that replay in slo motion. The difference was hand speed. If Chuck's uppercut was a little faster than Rashads overhand right we would have watched Evans crash to the mat. Congrats to Rashad. I didn't think he had it in him. Not sure where this leave the Ice Man. Might just be time to hang em up

you're right about one thing Van, Chuck does tend to knock guys out with those short counters. Vernon White is the perfect example. That being said, youre also wrong about one thing. The difference was that ever since the first day Chuck has stepped into the Octagon, he has carried his hands INCREDIBLY, STUPIDLY, AMATEURISHLY LOW. But he's gotten away with it b/c most mma fighters SUCK at standup.
He lost that fight because he was feeling himself up with his left hand while throwing the U/C. Now watch the vid again, and look where Chuck's hand is while he throws the U/C, and look where Rashad's is while he throws the O/H right. One guy has his hand planted on his cheek. The other does not.
Edit. pardon me... rashad's left hand doesn't come straight back, but his right is on his cheek right up until he throws it... Chuck's left hand, even when not throwing his jab, is not.

That punch broke chucks jaw i heard then?
Von I can't argue that Chuck carries his hands low. From talking to and training with MMA guys there is a difference in philosophy about this. Hands up in a classic boxing stance makes it harder to stuff takedowns and of course hands down make it easy to get KO'd. I think we originally felt that Rashad would look for td. Obviosly he didn't. All that being said by the second round Chuck should have known Rashad planned on standing. I have felt ever since the Rampage fight that Chuck is going the way of Hughes/Ortiz/Shamrock. He has failed to continue to evolve with the game. Knowing that his opponents have tons of film to sit and disect his strategy and that he has essentially "been figured out" he needs a new trainer if he is going to continue to fight. He needs someone else to game plan and try to bring more to the fight. If I were Chuck and planned on still fighting I'd go work in Randy's gym.
