Two of my favorite fighters. I feel Marquez has gone up one division to many. Casamayor by UD. A stoppage wouldn't surprise me

This is a fight in which I want both fighters to do well

All I can do is sit back and relax and enjoy the fire works. I know this is going to be a very good scrap. I can just feel it.

I was thinking along the same lines. I always wonder what Casa will show up, but he should be motivated for this one. They are both at the age and stages of their career where they can go downhill quickly. Since JMM is moving up, it is definitely going to be harder on him IMO and Casa will be very motivated.

I think Marquez takes a comfortable decision. Casamayor has less in the tank, he wont be getting off as quickly as he'll need to avoid being countered and outhustled is my take. It should be a great shoot out early to mid rounds but I think Marquez can keep up a much higher pace and stay sharp all 12 rounds. Casamayor will definetly be dangerous in this one though, he could hurt Marquez at any point. I don't see Marquez really hurting him with anything either, he'll need to fight very smart.

Not saying this will be dull but I wouldn't expect a fast paced fight. Marquez really doesn't like going after people, both counterpunchers, they're both a bit old, etc.

Marquez should have too much at this point.

First off, give a mighty big credit to Marquez for taking this fight. Going up in weight and taking on one of the top men in the division is no mean feat. But IMO, that will precisely be his problem - I think the size issue will adversely affect him in the fight. To me Marquez is just a blown-up lightweight but actually still a natural featherweight. On the other hand, Joel is a legit lightweight, or even a super one by now.

Another problem for Marquez is Joel's style. Marquez does badly against fighters who box and if Joel decides to box, I think it'll give Marquez some problems - he is good at fighting fighters who comes at him. So Marquez will have to overcome these two major problems in order for him to win. Will he be able to do so? I don't think so, so I'll go for Casamayor winning this fight.

But I'll be fair to Marquez; if he wins this one convincingly, he will be my numero uno p4p guy. If pac wins against the Golden Fool (that won't happen, though) he'll get back his p4p title. But even if that fight is cancelled and pac fights and beats Soto instead, Marquez will still keep the title. On the other hand, if pac beats worthy opponents like Juan Diaz, Guzman, or Campbell, of course he'll get back the title. That's fair enough, huh, Ice? Hope the guys on the other side can be fair to my boy sometimes too...

Once in awhile, get outside in fresh air, take a deep breath & with a deep sigh, let out all the things that's bottled up inside you & be free, & you'll get a glimpse of nirvana.

Marquez will take take Casamayor in this. He was being outboxed by Katsidis in his last fight and looked old at times. Marquez meanwhile beat Pac and has shown that his skills are as good as always.

Marquez to put the old man away.

Yeah Marquez is really a young prospect at 35 years old. He's old himself

True. But my take is that Marquez has still been boxing 3 minutes a round and looking very sharp in doing so. Casamayor looked sluggish against Katsidis and was clearly losing before getting the knock out.

If he is in any way sluggish or old against Marquez then he may suffer. Katsidis is technically weak, though moving up, Marquez is a far greater challenge.

Marquez fought Pacquiao to a draw and contraversial desicion. I feel Pacquiao is much faster and more powerful than Casamayor. Casamayor has lost a step or two the last few years. Katsidis is a decent fighter but no Marquez who is a counter-punching machine. Casamoyor is in trouble with this fight. I won't doubt Marquez will go down but he won't stay down and just outpunching Casamayor and making him look a fool at times. Marquez by UD

Marquez was good puncher at Featherweight. Good not great. Now he's at Lightweight. And for the first time in his career facing a fighter naturally bigger than him. Yes he's fought at 130 before. But that was against fighters who like him moved up in weight. And even than he was having trouble hurting them and taking there punches. Casamayor has been at 135 for 4 years. He's war with big punchers like Corrales, Castillo, Katsidis and Freitas. I seriously doubt Marquez can hurt him. But I know Casamayor can hurt him.
