True. But my take is that Marquez has still been boxing 3 minutes a round and looking very sharp in doing so. Casamayor looked sluggish against Katsidis and was clearly losing before getting the knock out.
If he is in any way sluggish or old against Marquez then he may suffer. Katsidis is technically weak, though moving up, Marquez is a far greater challenge.

Marquez fought Pacquiao to a draw and contraversial desicion. I feel Pacquiao is much faster and more powerful than Casamayor. Casamayor has lost a step or two the last few years. Katsidis is a decent fighter but no Marquez who is a counter-punching machine. Casamoyor is in trouble with this fight. I won't doubt Marquez will go down but he won't stay down and just outpunching Casamayor and making him look a fool at times. Marquez by UD
cry baby jmm by late tko!
Casamayor is mostly wrong for JMM...
- bigger
- southpaw
- too dirty
- boxer/counterpuncher
Casa by UD...

Marquez was good puncher at Featherweight. Good not great. Now he's at Lightweight. And for the first time in his career facing a fighter naturally bigger than him. Yes he's fought at 130 before. But that was against fighters who like him moved up in weight. And even than he was having trouble hurting them and taking there punches. Casamayor has been at 135 for 4 years. He's war with big punchers like Corrales, Castillo, Katsidis and Freitas. I seriously doubt Marquez can hurt him. But I know Casamayor can hurt him.

I have no idea who is going to win this (I've said that about a couple of fights in the last month). If Casa has declined as much as it appears he has, I think Marquez takes it. However, I think a prime-ish Casa takes the fight, probably stopping Marquez in the process (just too much skill and power). That's not a shot at Marquez, he's P4P better than Casa, but I think he is much better suited to 135 than JMM. I could be completely wrong though.
Like I said, I have no idea who's going to win. I'm leaning towards JMM. I'll certainly be cheering him on.

JMM by points for me. It could be UD or split decision. If JMM can take Pac's punches then he can take Casa's. JMM will be playing around Casa if Casa does not go dirty.
Next to pac, JMM is the man for me![]()

looking forward to this one, I like both fighters but am going with Casa by ud, think he'll have JMM on the deck along the way as well.

One of the most under-rated aspect of Marquez is his power. Believe me he has power. Overall, pac probably has more power in his punches than Marquez, except in one area: Marquez has more powerful straights than pac. They're hardly noticed because he usually never follows up on them; it's almost always a one-shot-at-a-time affair. I think his straights can still hurt anyone even at 135. But the problem for Marquez is, 'will he be able to catch Joel with them?' I'm not sure about that, so we'll see, but one thing I'm sure of is that if Joel catches Marquez with one of those that caught Kats, it'll be over for him - the legit 135lb power punches will be too much for featherweight Marquez...

Obviously, he did.
I've always said that Marquez is one of the best punchers today but hardly anyone took me seriously. I'd say he has the best straight/cross among boxers today. But I'm kinda dissappointed with Joel, though - I didn't expect him to go down with just one shot. What a pity...

This is a good win for Marquez but it seems everyone forgot how poor Casa looks against a very average opponent in Katsidis.
