hmmm sounds like a guess to me. So you agree with an organization's rankings but can't say why they do things the way they do. You are a fanatic, and chose fightnews because they have PAC at # 1.
Let's go with THE RING who I am using for this argument. You gain rankings by beating ranked fighters. You become champ by beating the champ. If the champ retires the number 1 and 2 (in certain case 1 and 3) fight to become champ. Simple makes sense. Makes a lot more sense than a popularity contest which is exactly what fightnews rankings are.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

I don't care about rankings or lineal or anything but as far as the fight goes I was fairly surprised he stopped Casa but not even remotely surprised he won because I think Casa was past it. And that wasn't a result of this fight, I've been saying that since the last Corralles fight on here often. Still JMM was impressive, amazing offensive fighter.
I keep trying to read through this but it keeps growing in pages too fastwhat a fight ! The rumors of Marquez's demise have been greatly over stated.I am not surprised that Marquez pulled it out but I had reservations about the weight being an issue...........so much for that.
Marquez was just way too accurate and sharp a hitter down the stretch for a bit past it but still superb thinker fighter in Casamayor.May sound cornball but in an odd way it was almost just as interesting watching them think as it was seeing the exchanges, both very calculating but Marquez again cemented his place as one of the most proficient and top ring generals over the last number of years.
The lightweights are exploding before us,awesome match ups recently and in the future.I would have to rank Campbell as above the rest right now,off of his dismantling of an arguable HOF'er and long term champ in Casamayor.....Marquez at 2.Pac debuted at light against a limited but all courage & grit Diaz but he was just keeping the belt warm for him Imo....3rd!Is there any doubt they should go for the trilogy, the contentious and heated nature of they're prior two will be debated for many moons.Looks like Pac is more interested in lining his pockets vs. The Diva though.I dont think Guzman or any other fighter should be ranked in a division they have never competed in,Off his debacle and weight problems....he may skip division entirely ??
