And XBOX has a shit ton of first person shooters if that's what you're into.
That is the downside with them, about as dependable as Juan Guzman and when playing discs they can sound like your in an aircraft hanger.

You could never really use a 360 for watching movies, at least not ones with quiet dialogue as the hum is unbearable.

I'm not sure if the PS3 has that when playing blue rays but I imagine it does.

Every pc I've ever had is always noisy as hell when playing discs as is every Xbox I've listened to, so no reason why the Ps3 would be any different.

My advice would be to get a 360 for gaming and then if you want blue ray movies a seperate blue ray player. Don't try and combine as you only wear out the drive real quick and consoles make for crappy, noisy awful playback machines anyway.
i have the 360 elite and they have pretty much solved all the problems with that one , not had no red ring yet weras my brothers original 360 gets it all the time , constantly going back and forth between us and microsoft for repairs,

also the noise it makes is greatly improved in the elite, think they put different fans and cooling systems in them
