Grady Brewer TKO3 Brandon Wooten Records: Brewer, 23-11, 13 KOs; Wooten, 4-12-1, 2 KOs
Rafael's remark: This surely wasn't the encore Brewer, 37, had in mind after outpointing Steve Forbes to win the second season finale of "The Contender." That fight took place Sept. 26, 2006, and this was Brewer's first fight since. The reason is because Brewer has been sidelined for the past two years by a serious knee injury. But he persevered through his rehabilitation to finally make it back to the ring in his hometown, where he took care of business against journeyman Wooten, who lost his seventh in a row. Let's cut Brewer some slack on the opponent after such a long layoff and a tough injury. It was Brewer's fifth win in a row since an eighth-round TKO loss to Marco Antonio Rubio in May 2005. Hopefully, Brewer can work his way back into shape and eventually capitalize on his "Contender" crown by landing a good money fight.
