First off Floyd Mayweather Jr had a bad shoulder injury in the first fight with Jose Luis Castillo. And wasn't 100 percent, in the 2nd fight when he was 100 percent he easily avoided Jose Luis Castillo with good movement and not getting trapped on the ropes and i thought he clearly won by 3 rounds so i wouldn't say it was close..........
As for Zab Judah ? how did he push Floyd Mayweather close ? he won 3 out of the first 4 rounds. And that was it he never won any other rounds, and Floyd Mayweather figured him out after the 4th round and busted him badly and he landed almost 3 times as many power punches...........
ODLH vs Floyd Mayweather wasn't close either i had Floyd Mayweather winning by 3 or 4 rounds comfortably. But i don't see what Judah or ODLH has to do with Margarito vs Mayweather the fact is ODLH and Judah are much faster and throw there punches with much better technique, where as Antonio is slow handspeed wise and throws his punches wide and even his footwork is pretty slow aswell........
And how can you say Ricky Hatton isn't good pressure fighter ? he is one of the best pressure fighters of the modern era IMO, and do you know why his output was low against Floyd Mayweather ? because Floyd Mayweather clinched Hatton and slowed the fight down. Hatton has very quick feet and good handspeed yet he landed at a very low percentage.............
As for Mike Tyson looking unbeatable ? well he didn't to me he wern't that far away from losing to James Tillis and Tony Tucker outboxed him until he broke his right hand.
Oh COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOme on, you weren't alive when Tyson was mowing through his opposition. Hindsight is a beautiful thing.
It's a hypothetical comparison, people in this era think Floyd's unbeatable, just as
people belived Tyson was unbeatable. You missed the entire point of my post, which just cos a guy seems unbeatable due to his ability, it doesnt mean he shouldn't prove it in the ring against all logical opposition.
Would you rather have a situation where every single boxer has, let say, 20 fights, then the title is decided by a panel of fans between two guys that have never faced each other, on the merits of their bouts against random opposition?
I'm not doubting PBF's talent for a second, he is brilliant, but no one is unbeatable, I was just listing the guys that had some success (DLH,Castillo...) against him, certainly as much success as Tillis and Tucker had against Mike.
He does have a good legacy, but it won't be considered legendary in 20 years time. I'm not saying he has an obligation to come back, just stating what he needs to do to be considered among the genuine greats which he seems to believe he has already achieved.
As for Hatton, I'm not talking about the PBF fight alone, the compubox numbers from all his fights between Tzyu and Floyd state as FACT that the average number of punches he throws per round is well BELOW the LWW average, which is not expected for a pressure fighter. Marg averages twice as much, so just as you say the DLH fight isn't indicative of how a Marg-Floyd fight would pan out, neither does the Hatton fight.
I will state it again, IMO Floyd is favourite against Marg, but sure as hell won't be an easy night, Floyd certainly doesn't belive it'd be easy otherwise it would have happened a long time ago.
I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but im just being honest Mike Tyson looked very beatable in a few fights which is not the case with Floyd Mayweather. Mayweather has only really looked beatable in one fight and his opposition has been pretty good unlike Mike Tyson who was in a very weak era for the Heavyweights............
I don't think ODLH had that much success, considering he had 1 stone advantage. And the added advantage of not Floyd Mayweather not ever fighting at that weightclass i think ODLH only won 4 rounds at max...........
As for Ricky Hatton well didn't he and Luis Collazo, get a record for the most number of punches thrown in Welterweight fight or something ? Ricky Hatton has been clinching more thats why his punchstats have gone down. But he still pressures you for 3 minutes of the round..........
Throwing alot of punches against Floyd Mayweather doesn't work. Jesus Chavez tried that and got picked off and countered all night. he like Antonio Margarito, threw 100+ punches a round yet Floyd Mayweather didn't tire at all infact he got stronger in the later rounds. I don't think Antonio Margarito is a varied boxer meaning if he can't break down an opponent, its not like he can switch up is it ? and Floyd Mayweather will work out Antonio Margarito in a matter of only a few rounds and outbox him over 12 rounds.
damn people are still posting on this look it goes like this ten rounds for floyd and the first 2 for tony. tony cant ko floyd just cause hes a pressur fighter floyd has fought lots of them and always came out on top so just end it every SMART boxing fan knows the outcome tony just cant beat PBF never![]()
