Whoever ko'd the bigger men deserves the title of hardest puncher. If they ko'd smaller men then they should be ranked lower.

Ernie Shavers and George Foreman in a tie.
You only need to look at the 1st Frazier v Foreman fight to witness the most destructive punching power i have ever seen.

Somebody that doesnt get credit because of his speed is Ali,but if you watch his career, you could watch him decide he was bored with a fight, and end it on one punch.
Against both Foley and Williams he just went,"Im bored now" and the fight ended. He also hurt that part of his legacy by playing with his food,he could have ended Patterson at any moment, but Patterson had pissed him off so he stretched out the whupping.

I am going to agree with Lyle's statement of Tyson being the greatest combination puncher. With no pitty pat in anyone of his punches but I wouldn't rank Tyson the hardest puncher.

Another fighter who comes to mind is Gerry Cooney. George Foreman in his biography said "when he hit me with a left hook to the body it felt like I came out of my shoes".Another comment was from Joe Bugner who said "Frazier's left hook could really do damage but Cooney's left hook goes right through you".I'll give you one more when Jimmy Young was asked what was the hardest punch you've been hit with Jimmy replied "a left hook to the body by Gerry Cooney".

It's a toss up between Shavers and Foreman, but I'd go with Big George. If you can get Chuvalo hurt like Foreman did, you must hit damn hard.

Tyson's power came from the speed and accuracy and KO's from punches other fighter could not see. In terms of pure power Bruno should be up there.

I have to go with another power puncher from youngstown ohio from and say Ernie Shavers. Ali says he was the hardest so I would have to agree. Marciano , Foreman , Cooney and Baer as well can be tossed in .
