American Heavyweights are piss poor and have been for a while. Protected records and then they lose meekly. Great Shame.

Who will fight Haye - it doesn't matter - they are getting KTFO.

Holyfield had one or 2 easy fights when he stepped upto Heavy and Haye probably will aswell - cos people apart from old fogies looking for a last payday won't fight him.

Herbie Hide is an option if they need a name.

Alright then let's make a list of NON-American heavyweights that don't have padded records, and I'm talking current fighters.

I love how American HWs get dogged...

It's true to an extent but I'd love for ONE THING TO HAPPEN!

I wish that they stopped football and basketball in the US for like 30 years...

The US would be knocking the teeth into the back of the throats of the world in no time.

As far as Haye... Stop being a tool and fight SOMEONE... at this point no one even cares... SOMEONE.

Get your feet wet so we can watch Wlad put the wood to you, bigmouth!

    Touche, greg.

Have the Americans got to rely on European Heavyweights being decent?

We can look through history and the vast majority is dominated by US Heavy's - those were the days. Now we got Robotic Ukrainians and from the US umm Brian Minto? Derrick Rossy? Vinny Maddalone?

Where are the US Heavys. I started a topic on here wayback regarding the current state of US Heavys called "Why are US Heavys so poor?"
I got many answers and was told Brock or Thompson was the next man - that was wrong, people even still talk about Oliver McCall.

Chapman seems to have chickened out, Johnson is acting dumb, turns down the money - wants more then mouths off.

The only US fighter wanting to go is Ray Mercer. Thats a mess.

I accept that a few decent contenders albeit from europe are tied up. But what excuse do Johnson, Arreola or Chapman have? A career high payday.

This is all he said, she said mind you, but from what I understand is Johnson does in fact still want the fight, Arreola already has another fight booked and Chapman well, not exactly the contender Haye was looking for. I think POB has hit the nail on the head, going forward you won't see to many American HW greats. Guys in America can make absolutely tons of money playing Baseball or Basketball. Thompson made a career high payday at $250,000 in a title fight against the highest rated HW of all boxing. The average MLB player makes about $2,400,000. The average NBA player makes about $4,000,000. The money isn't in boxing like it used to be (Stateside anyway). The NFL which has salary caps still averages about $770,000 per year.

money deffinitly is in boxing, if Mike Tyson were to announce a comeback tomorrow how many people here wouldnt watch?

When Mike fought Holyfield he was paid 30 million and that was 12 years ago!!!

All that needs to happen is someone to realise that much like Mayorga and Tyson, if you are interesting and exciting people will pay to watch you, whether you have a few losses or not, thats what fighting is all about, not Hopkins style "look how I can hold and grab and call it clever boxing"

So you're gonna say he's not a clever boxer? He almost beat Calzaghe and Joe in my eyes is in his prime... Joe is a great champ.

Hitting and holding is not clever boxing... I like Hatton but his style is not "clever boxing" John Ruiz's style is not "clever boxing" Hopkin's ability to slip, slide, evade, force you to initiate then counter and hit you and then hold.... That's "clever boxing

Chapman?!?!?! Are you FUCKING kidding me?!?!?! Do you think JD Chapman is a worthy opponent? David Haye is supposed to be a title contender already and he's going to test his metal vs a guy who's last fight was vs Rich Boruff?!?!?!

If Haye fights Chapman then he's going to be as big of a joke as Amir Kahn

    This is getting daft

Haye is a big draw and apart from a tittle shot has to be one of the biggest pay-days out there for fringe contenders not to mention more TV coverage than most could hope for.

This is a dream scenario for any promoter How the fuck can you not have signed a top 10 HW and have a solid backup in 10 f**king months

Do you think if Maloney was to promote Haye

He would pull the old union jack suit out

he would have to update it with the Turkish republic of Cyprus flag or whatever Haye wears on this shorts now

    hahaha class whistle that
I think people should get off Hayes back a bit really and judge him after he's actually fought
Already the hate brigade has come out the woodwork (Prob still bitter that we had the best Heavyweight of recent times in Lennox or maybe the thread title upsets them) and can't wait for Haye to fall at the fist hurdle....
I can see it now..."told ya so etc"
Let's let him fight a few eh people then we can judge him

Well said but Hide won't move back upto Heavy he's afraid I think. He did want Haye at Cruiser but I think he knew how badly weight drained he is down there now.
