I have a documentry on the bouts.
Louis took Jersey lightly due to the bums he had been fed.
Joe stated in the rematch it was the hardest he had trained since the schmelling rematch.
I hate to admit it, but I remember that fight well. We all thought Walcot got hosed and even Joe knew it. However, he redeemed himself in the rematch. JJW was a cuties' cutie and good do things in the ring that were astounding. He also had a deadly left hook with great hand speed.
From what I have read Louis was walking out of the ring thinking he had lost and they had to call him back to raise his arm. Louis was old that's the only reason it was competitive. Walcot was winning the second fight as well until Louis landed some vicious punches late to put him away.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
