The Berto train will grind to a hault once he meets a top tier guy... HE'S NOT THAT GOOD!
He's only had 22 fights, once he gains some more experience he'll become an elite fighter IMO.
He used the words has the potential to be as good as floyd... Do you remember what PBF looked like with 12 fights?

This statement is just crazy... He's the next Jeff Lacy... Sorry

Steve Forbes took Oscar De la Hoya the distance and Oscar didn't look so hot vs him. Forbes can take a punch, Berto doesn't punch as hard as people would like to believe and being on this big of a stage and being young I think Berto is primed for a loss.

Either way Miguel Cotto needs to fight either one of them in his come back fight....and either way he wins by KO

I think that Forbes is no longer at a good weight for him and i think Berto while blast him if they fight. As for Cotto he might end up like i said like Vargas after his first brutal defeat but we shall wait and see people tend to forget what a crushing lose does to a fighter.

Understood but Cotto does one thing Vargas never did and that's BOX. Sure Miguel is a brawler but in the first half of the fight vs Margarito he showed what a class boxer he really is.

And Mr140, Forbes hasn't been knocked down or knocked out and he gave De la Hoya all he could handle and De la Hoya as old as he is is still a far better fighter than Berto will ever be

Sorry Lyle but I think you are underestimating Berto. He is showing some real potential to me.

I've seen enough of Berto to know he can be beaten by a fighter like Forbes. Forbes just got done fighting De la Hoya who had the same defense and more power, so Forbes has experience vs the same style and a BETTER FIGHTER. Look at Berto's record....who the hell is on there

I'm not saying it's certain Berto is going to lose but it won't surprise me if he does

Oscar vs. Forbes was a set up showcase type fight for DelaHoya to get back on track.I see the same similarities with a Berto fight,a "coming out" party in his cough.......cough.....Championship debut defense for Berto.I think Forbes is a class guy and a nice skilled fighter some time a go and not at welter or higher but I expect Berto to take a win ,possibly in spectacular fashion?Just don't blinded by hype & be fooled into believing he is ready to crash the top ranks with top primed welters right now,Imo...he is not.

Well my money will be going on him to become the first man to KO Forbes!

Look Lyle i know that Cotto was and still is a better boxer then Vargas. But Vargas until he got beat ahd a better record then Cotto did he was good solid fighter who was have great success then Trinidad and Oscar came along and derailed him. Now Vargas may not have the Boxing skills of Cotto but he has better stamina, better punch and i think he takes punches better then Cotto did. Look i would take Vargas over Margrito if they fought one another. But you know how Margarito looks at 154 and i Favor Vargas even more. Look Margarito look like the Hulk against Cotto but against Clotty, Santos and Williams he looked like just another fighter. I still stick by my original though that if Cotto fights Margarito again or right away i guess he while end up ruined just like Vargas did after he lost to Trinidad and then to Oscar i just see it that way so wait and see.

This will be a great fight.

Very hard and rugged i see Berto winning a close dec. Berto has hardly looked great when he stepped up to even semi elite level. I also have doubts on Bertos stamina.

Will be closer than many think.

The only thing Forbes HAS to do that he didn't vs De la Hoya was to up his punch output.

Vargas was a one dimensional fighter in love with his power...he didn't have ANY defense. Cotto fought a hard fight and had he stayed in and lost the decision I may agree with you but Cotto only had a couple rounds where he was really beaten up and so I don't think he's anywhere near washed up.

Cotto also didn't get startched by 1 punch either so I doubt he's going to be chinny or gunshy in his next fight either. When Vargas got beat by Trinidad he got floored a couple times early and then got smashed the rest of the fight...and vs De la Hoya he got his ass whipped over a prolonged period of time (albeit while winning many rounds).
