Watch Cotto-Mosley you'll see Cotto took a couple rounds off but Mosley never did anything to pressure him and so Cotto was able to gather himself and close out strong. Margarito knew that and as soon as Cotto's volume of punches went down Tony stepped on the gas and that really helped him because he did it at exactly the right time...or else Tony doesn't win so many rounds and Cotto maybe squeaks out with a draw or even decision win.
I never said I was disagreeing with anything, but you make it sound like Cotto lost because he chose the wrong moment to take a round off. He lost because Margarito beat the shit out of him.

Margarito was pressuring him constantly, I don't think he stepped it up at just the right moment. It was just that by the 1/2 way point he had exhausted Cotto, and Cotto was no longer able to avoid his punches as well as he had previously.
