I don't know how homes are built in the UK but in the US most rooms have 8' ceilings. Which means this bear stands up and his head is 2 feet into the attic.

    He was 10'6 afterall.
It sounds like he was certainly a big bear. Still not found the episode online yet, looking forward to it though.

The weight at 1,200 lbs wasn't extraordinary though. I know bears when getting ready for hibernation can weigh up to 2000 lbs.

In fact most grizzly's could easily reach 1200 lbs I'd imagine, didn't really seem like a giant to me.

The trouble with weighing bears is when to do it.

As hibernators they have to pack hundreds of pounds of extra weight to see them throught the winter. I know David Attenborough on my dvd's of his I have says during hibernation they can reach 2000 lbs although maybe by that he means 1800.

But 1800 is certainly quite a bit larger than the monster quest bear, almost the difference from a human being 6 ft 7 in or 7 ft 7 in.

A 6 ft 7 guy would be a big fella for sure but nowhere near the world record. Same with this bear......

Well, when you think that the average brown bear is between 5' and 8' and the average American is...

Question: What is the Average Height for an Adult Male?

Answer: According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the average height for an adult male in the United States is:
    • 69.2 inches, or
    • 5 feet 9.2 inches
So the average brown bear and the average human are not that far apart in height. 10' feet tall is HUGE! and the mass is just ridiculous.

This is from the documentary "Grizzly Man." Which itself is quite dull, but this clip is worth a watch.

Also... I am not trying to prove anything with this clip. Just sharing.

Yep they are definitely menacing creatures for sure, hence why you'd want to shoot it with a gun rather than take one on with your bare hands.

By the way how did you find the Grizzly Man doc dull? I watched it twice absolutely loved it, watching him descend into madness before being killed by the bears.

Actually a funny story. After watching it I wanted to hear Treadwall's dying tape recording and searched the net for it.

I couldn't find it anywhere but there were loads of forums with threads devoted to people looking for it.

The threads had hundreds of replies with people debating furiously over whether it was morally wrong to want to listen to the tape or not.

Well eventually someone said they had the tape and would upload it.

There were loads of replies, some wanting to hear it others saying uploading it was sick and it was a really buzzing thread as we all waited eagerly for it to upload.

Then when the link was put up some said 'Don't listen to this, it's wrong' etc etc, others were saying 'About fucking time can't wait for this!' etc etc.

So I finally clicked the link and it was a piss take, Some guy putting on Treadwells gay voice saying 'Why hello Mr Bear how nice of you to drop by my tent!' etc and then you heard him screaming 'Mr Bear No that's not nice!' and 'Stop it Mr Bear!' as he got eaten alive!

As I'd been searching for so long for the recording, and the fact that so many others were condeming this guy for uploading this morally disgusting tape when I saw it was a brilliant piss take I was in hysterics!

It was my funniest internet moment of 2007 probably

You probably had to be there though

    LOL

Well, I thought it would be more about the bears than the man himself. Which was pretty damn foolish since it was called, Grizzly "Man."

I actually own a copy of the DVD but I would trade it for a bootleg of
    Mac & Me.

Look... this may make me a jerk but I didn't know much about the guy before the film and I felt blindsided by the "Grizzly" Man sounding
